Both my walmarts got new shipments of these rifles. I really dont like the older heavy winchesters. But the powerline seemed lighter weight and the newer full stock look. Manlichler is good, other model with hidge showing heavy and bad? Even pyramid air still shows the old model in pictures.

Daisy Pwrline 1000S

I just bought a Daisy Powerline 1000S and I'm a reasonably strong adult man, but I could only cock it by laying across my knees and hitting the barrel sharply with the palm of my hand to break it loose at the pivot point.
I'm hoping that this will get better with use and I can cock it the normal way. I bought it at Walmart for $100 so will try it a few more days and take it back for another one if it doesn't loosen up.

It shoots good though and is a powerful gun. The crack of the shots is about as loud as a .22 rifle. I don't regret buying it if the cocking problem works out.

The Beeman 1100 was $124.95 and had a really slick walnut looking stock.
I didn't try it out so can't say about it's action. I was just afraid to buy a Chinese made gun. maybe an error on my part?

Has anyone else had this problem with cocking the new 1000S'?
If so what did you do to remedy it?

Heavy cocking is typical of the 1000 series. Removing the top-hat or installing a weaker spring will cure this but they also reduce the velocity.

Keep the velocity

Thanks Russ,

I'm glad I found this site. I will just keep using the gun and oil it regularly and hope it gets better. But like you say, I don't want to lose any velocity and/or accuracy with a looser breech fit or velocity with a weaker spring.

Hey, there ain't no free lunches.

Oiling

Charlie, you'll want to watch out for over-oiling. It's not necessary to regularly oil springer airguns, and excessive oil in the area of the spring and piston will eventually migrate around the piston seal and lead to dieseling and detonation.

A touch of oil occasionally on the cocking linkages wouldn't be bad if it looks dry, but a little goes a long way.

I agree on the lube. There is very little need for lubrication in the chamber. A drop or two of pelgun oil every 3000 shots is a good rule of thumb. A proper lube tune would be even better since proper lubricants eliminate the need for periodic lubrication almost entirely.

You must be careful in either case though. Seals are not an easy thing to find should you damage one.

Glad you found it too Charlie, welcome by the way.

The two main things this gun has going for it are it's accuracy and more importantly it's velocity. No point in taking away one of those unless you really have the need or desire to.

These guns may kick like a mule compared to others but I think that is part of the fun if you ask me. A magnum airgun should feel like it in my opinion and besides, these really aren't that hold sensitive.
