Can't see the pics and the 800x will not be able to take down a woodchuck. The gun is under powered for taking small to medium size game. Stick to starlings and other pesky birds.

Have fun

my 2 cents

Anon y mouse obviously does not know of what he speaks.

I have various Hatsans (Daisy Winchester by another name) the Brazilian 55 and 60 models are I prefer to use hunting our largest small game here.

Here is a thread with links to hunting photos. We regularly take Aissie brushtail possums (marsupials) by the dozen, turkeys, peacocks, rabbits etc. There is a fur bounty on the Possums, so we go night hunting hoping to bring in a bag of a kilogram or more per nite.

Needless to say the most effective airgun for the task, most reliable and popular is the Hatsan 60 (.22 model synonym= 800x. Better more robust than the equivalent 1000x.)

cheers

I was able to highlight, copy, and paste the link into a browser and see the pic. Apparently that 800X has enough 'oomph' to take those 'chucks out.

My dad has a similar "problem" with a groundhog burrowed under their neighbor's house in town. I may take my 1000X and set up round the corner from the bird feeder; that way I can keep the starlings out of the suet, and have a 10 yard shot at the the 'chuck-hole'.

Keep up the good work,

Bryan

OK, a few notes:

1. Gamo Raptors are VERY LIGHT pellets, thus they loose energy faster than a heave, lead pellet.  I would not recommend those pellets for such a powerful gun.

2. I would use domed pellets for your purpose, and if you are having penetration problems, you can try those that have a steel BB insterted in the top (never used it myself, but I have goten plenty of game with the RWS Sueprdomes).

3. I dont know about the 800X (dont have one), but the 1000X has plenty of power for small game at 35 yards.  As for Crows and such, I have taken them out at over 50 yards (closer to 70, actually).

4. For small gme, .22 is preferable because of energy transfer, but the .177 is my favorite because of flatter trajectory (the heavier pellets transfer more energy to the target, but travel slower and thus have more arc).
