After the problems that I had with mounting a scope on my Daisy 1000 (see post below about heavy scopes) I have thought about using an aperture sight instead. Does anyone see any problems with using the Mendoza Sight described:
Good question, Mike. I placed an order with Pyramyd for one a couple days ago, but apparently they're back-ordered till about 10/10. Once I do receive it, I'll put it on my 1000S, since I don't have a scope mounted yet, and see how it lines up.
Will report back then.

Mike, the PyramydAir order came in today including the Mendoza diopter rear sight. It seems like a fairly nicely made unit. When I mounted it onto my Daisy 1000S receiver dovetails, and adjusted the elevation down as far as it would go, it still lacked maybe 1/8"-3/16" of being low enough to use the stock 1000S front sight.
...to see if maybe it could be adapted. While it may be tall enough for the Mendoza rear sight, the problem would be figuring out a way to set up a front sight mount for the 953 sight's dovetail onto the end of the 1000's barrel.
Hope that helped,
Bryan
