Just been browsing between the Crosman sites and Daisy sites the past few days. After reading info in the Daisy Museum, I think I want to start collecting Daisy BB Guns. Since looking at what's available from Daisy and what's in the stores, what guns would be good to buy for future collectibility? It seems that everything on the market has some amount of plastic which I just do not like. What do you guy's think, buy new or try to find something old that is till made with metal? Thanks for your help.

If you are looking for a modern collectable then see if you can get your hands on a 22x. Nice gun and I would expect it to hold value well over the years. Besides that and some of the "special edition" stuff they sell now and then, your best bet is to look for the older stuff on the auction sites. Just be careful, some of the descriptions are very misleading. Personally, I buy guns that are uncommon and fun to shoot. Diana P5 Magnum, Hy-score 803, Older Crosman 2200 Magnum chrome version, etc.

Take care.

Thanks Russ, as a matter of fact, I was looking at the 22X and also saw reference to the 177X which apparently is already discontinued (just my luck).

Either one would serve you well...

but neither is a powerhouse. Just a good all around gun that is fun to shoot and a bit rare. For more power potential try looking for a Crosman 2200 Magnum. Hard to find since they haven't been made for a while but another good one for the collection and they can post nice numbers with a minor amount of TLC.

Take care.
