Just purchased a Winchester 1000X. I had read some reviews prior to purchasing, and saw that one of the common complaints was the scope loosening up after mounting. From what some were saying, the only way to keep the scope mounted firmly was to remove the double mounts, and replace with a single mount.
I addressed this with the sales rep from Cabelas, who assured me that if the scope was properly tightend down, it should not loosen up.
When I mounted it, I tightened down the screws as tight as I could, stopping just shy of stripping something, so it seemed.
After probably 15 shots, the scope had loosened to the point that it was sliding easily on the barrel.
If the single mount is the only way to go, does anyone have any suggestions?? Model #,where to purchase?
Seems funny that Daisy has not recognized this and made a different mount for new guns.
Also, I noticed some small amounts of metal shavings near the "O" ring, next to where the pellets are loaded. Is this common during break in?
Thanks.

Kevin, it's not surprising that the recoil from a 1000 is causing problems with the scope mounts. Lots of the rings out there just aren't built for airguns in general, and the Daisy 1000 in particular ;~)
The Leapers Accushot 1-piece scope mount is one that I use on several of my rifles. They're reasonably priced and seem to hold much better than most 2-piece mounts I've tried. Here's a link to where I have bought them:
There are a number of things I like about it (it's the medium height, 25mm/1" ring mount), including that it has 4 cap screws per ring, a kind of non-slip tape liner around the inside of each ring, an integral scope mount stop grub screw in the rear ring that can be screwed down into one of the holes on top of the rifle's receiver, and it comes with 3 allen wrenches to fit the different sized cap screws and grub screw.
One thing to make sure of whenever you mount a scope to a gun is that you clean the dovetails on the gun's receiver and scope mount with something like alcohol (I use lighter fluid) to remove any grease or oil you can. Then use a good drop of the blue (NOT the red) LocTite thread lock fluid on the threads of each screw, letting it dry overnight after you've tightened everything down nice and snug (don't go overboard and strip the threads). So far, I've yet to see any slippage from the AccuShot 1-piece mount on my guns.
If you're set on using a 2-piece set of mounts, AccuShot also has a nice one that's even more reasonable:
Bryan, thanks a lot for the info; extremely helpful.
I'm going to switch over to the single mount, and I'll let you know my results when done.
I did notice that the gun was extremely accurate for the first couple of shots, before the scope loosened. Can't wait to get it zeroed in with a more permanent mounting.
Thanks again for your reply.
