For anyone that's in the market for a new Daisy Powerline 1000S at a good price, check your friendly neighborhood WalMart. It seems that a lot of them have put the 1000S with the Daisy 3-9X32 non-AO scope on red-tag sale (may be closeout) for $79. Normally they've been $99 for that setup, and was a good price even then.
I don't know if that means they'll be discontinuing the higher power air rifles or not, but now would be the time to check them out.

Yep! I had purchased one on the 14th, for $99.98. Ten days later they went on sale. Took it back and got the $74.00 one. This one is much newer and was packaged better also. I had a few issues with the first one. I had even more issues with it as soon as I opened the second one. These are really sweet shooters. My brother bought a GAMO Silver Shadow, and a friend bought a Quest 1000. We went shooting and right from the start the daisy 1000s was way better. I've got it sighted for 30 yrds.. I'm shooting very good groups. I can't wait for the wind to die down a bit. It's like 15mph with 25-30 gusts. I've got some good pictures that I am pleased with, considering the wind. I'l be posting them as soon as I get a chance. Really want to see what other shooters think. I tried some shots out to 50 yrds.. Good groups but I didn't want to adjust my scope because the killing power at that distance is somewhat questionable anyway. about halfway through a half inch particle board. At 30 yards pointed tips go right through. At 40 yards it takes two pellets at virtually the same spot to go through. At fifty, third shot through same whole, barely poking out the back. I have found a half inch particle board to be a good substitute for a skull.

Are you using a bipod? I really like this gun, but still havent found a good mount system that isnt too expensive for an occasional weekend sniper.
BTW. I can ALMOST put flat head pellets through 3/4 inch plywood at 15 yrds. (I have a small backyard)I got tired of shooting at paper targets and started taking out the colorful tacks I used to hold them in place. :)

I don't use a bipod. I use shooting bags at home or if I'm target shooting. For a small hunt I have a hip sack filled with rice. It's portable and great for a steady shot in the field. At fifteen yards I can get in the kill zone standing free hand. Try different things to see what works best for you.

i bought the 440 gamo and like it but want more power lol, sounds like powerline is similar to RWS 350 in pwr. This might be a perfect truck gun my biggest beef with air guns not good for long shots that i always do. Can this gun take out coke cans say 100ft?

Brad, from what I've seen, if the shooter does his part, the 1000S can repeatedly hit soda cans at 100 ft. with no problem, even using open sights (assuming your eyes are any better than mine). I don't know about the RWS350, but with the Powerline I think you can expect between 900 and 1000fps using standard weight .177 pellets.
Hopefully there's someone out there with a Chrony that will report in with some actual numbers.

Just reiterating what Bryan said. 100ft is only 33 yards. An average shooter, should easily hit quarter sized groups at that distance with a 1000s. I've heard the term "truck gun" applied to some air guns. Do you all mean to shoot from inside the cab. I think it would be quite difficult to cock a break barrel in a vehicle, but that's just me.

Perfect for leaving in the truck, requires an affordable, durable gun. I would want to leave rws in my truck and get banged up. Cant tell you how many times wished i had a gun in the truck, at the lake, wendover, mesquite.

I think that for the price, you can't go wrong. This season I got a gun mount for my truck. It straps around the center of the bench seat and it has slots to place the butt in with the barrel down. This mount keeps the gun low from outside view. It was cheap too. Whay kinda game are you trying to take at the lake? My 880 loves the steel tipped pellets. It's a killer at 20 yards. My 1000s doesn't like them at all.

I had purchased the powerline around three years ago for 149. then a little later it went on sale for 99. now that I have bought my second one they decied to go back down to 79. and of course I have moded the gun so now I cant exchange it. But thats ok. Still cant beat the money for the power and fun factor. Gammo beter look out. I figure that these guns are distributed just for wally world and outher discount stores for I have never seen them anyware else. I have actually shot soda cans 100 yards (not feet) away and still had penetration with daisy wad cutters. Take the scope mounts off and save them for a rimfire gun and then purchase the one piece tall mount and remove the stop plate and screw. You might have to drill out the screw hole larger for the new mount grub screw that secures the new mount to the gun, there are two holes in the gun for this. The scope is ok but a 40mm would be better hence the tall mount and that the safety is in the way of the larger scope. Do not do what I did and spray the workings down with wd40. Oh ya cocks realy easy but get ready for that puff of oil in your eye every time you shoot! And filling the hollow spaces in the stock with expanding foam make shure that you fill very slowly unlike my impatient self who stuck the filler strawl down into my carfully drilled hole and emptied the entire contents of the can into the stock. After cleaning up my work bench the walls and floor and getting a shorter hair cut I now know that the foam is very very expanding.

I got my first 1000s about 9 months ago and had to take it back after a week. It wouldn't close the barrel after I cocked it. It was rough from the start too.
My second one was different. A friend lubed it and smoothed everything out with emery paper. It shoots great now. Yall will probably like these chrony numbers.
For 10 shots:
7.9g Crosman wad cutters and 8.2 gr RWS superpoint
Low 971.9 ----- 934.1
Hi 1004.0 ----- 984.5
Ave 983.6 ----- 950.3
Spread 32.5 ----- 50.31
Std D 8.54----- 14.31
This is probably closer to advertised speed than the $300+ RWS' and $200+ Gamo's
Pretty good for a $74.00 gun--course this one cost me $89.95 but I went from my buddy's range and bought one of the $74 ones--still in the box.
I didn't get to check for accuracy cause the scope mount came loose and sheared off the little screw in the scope stop. I was using an Accushot 1 piece mount (three screws)
I didn't use Loctite when I mounted it and I didn't stop and retighten any screws during the speed test so it's my fault things worked loose.
Oh yeah, after the lube, cocking it is easy and its so much quieter.
Better get one fore they're gone.

with what I've found. The only modern airgun I've ever found that meets it's advertised velocity. Still say it is the most underrated gun on the market.
