smoking barrel

I was recently shooting my daisy winchester 800x , and after probably 150 shots the gun started making a loud crack and then there would be smoke coming out of the barrel. has anyone experienced this and how can i fix it. thanks

Aaron, it sounds like some kind of oil/lubricant has worked its way into the compression chamber ahead of the piston seal, causing detonation and the pellet to go supersonic. From all I've read, that's a bad thing, potentially causing spring breakage, seal degradation and other serious damage to the power plant. It will likely require a good cleaning out of the compression chamber and piston.

will give you a good idea on how to take care of the problem. Using the right lubricants in the right quantities are pretty important on a spring-piston airgun, but over-lubing or putting the wrong stuff in the wrong places should be avoided.
