Hello,
I have a Powerline 1000s with a Tasco 3-9x40AO scope and have had constant problems with the scope mounts sliding and eventually, ruining them. I grow weary of replacing the scope mounts yearly.
I bought a 1 pc scope mount last year,, but could not make it fit. Only to realize, now, that there is a small vertical screw that runs thru the the base of the scope mount. What does this do? IS this supposed to screw into the rifle? is it some type of locking screw?
Daisy has been nice enough to do some work on this rifle(I use it DAILY)for free and I will try the Gamo mount as soon as I get it back.
Anysuggestions on how to keep this from sliding, or will the 1 pc take care of this?

Oh yeah, the "bubble gum machine" looking front globe style sight gets in the way of the 1 pc mount(it got in the way of the original, but I overlooked it)
since the 1 pc mount is slightly lower than the original.
I've tried to remove the barrel cap, with no luck.
Also, its' prob a mess under there?huh?
Suggestions?

sounds like a stop screw. It is meant to fit in to a hole in the receiver to keep the mount from moving on the rail. Unless you drill a hole in the receiver for it to engage, I don't think you will be able to use the screw. I would atleast back the screw out and try the mount without it. With a larger area being clamped down, it may hold up to the recoil without the stop screw.

Concerning the barrel, the sight simply taps off but it is ugly under there and it is tight. I would buy a brake to put in place of the front sight. It will keep your paws off of the bluing and cover the machining beneath the sight.

Good to know, and thanks for the tip Russ!
Any suggestions on a good brake, that'll fit?

On my 1000S, there is a small scope stop at the back end of the receiver dovetails, held on by a screw. Unfortunately, the hole for the screw is a bit small for the allen-head grub screw in the back end of the Accushot 1-pc. mount which I like to use. So I just left the little scope stop in place and set the Accushot so that it butted up against the stop. One of these days if I pull the 1000 apart to do a tune and trigger a la Russ Sauer, I may drill the hole out just enough for the scope mount stop screw to fit into it.

So far though, the mount on mine has held up through a good bit of shooting. No sliding so far, knock on wood.

yeah, i've also notiiced that the arrestor screw in the base of the mount seems wider than my rifle screwhole...
I'll need to check it when Daisy sends me the rifle back.

No dice, the Gamo 1 pc scope mount that I am using has an arrestor screw that is too large to screw into the Daisy arrestor screwhole on the rifle...

It still slides, too.

You could enlarge the hole...

to fit the mount. Remove the trigger group, guide, mainspring, and piston before drilling it out. Placing a magnet inside the tube where you will be drilling should keep shavings from getting everywhere.
