I am have just ordered the powerline 1000 rifle from sportsmanguide.com and the rifle groups well for the first 3 shots, but then the the next three shots will group somewhere else and then the next three after that will do the same thing. Its a losing battle. I have tried multiple grips and cleaned the barrel. I dont know what to do about this gun can anybody give me advise on how to make the gun shoot consistently. I have already put roughly 600 pellets through it and it doesnt seem to be leveling out. Somebody please help this gun is 400 pellets away from being destroyed.

Phillip, are you using a scope on it? If that's the case, the scope or its mount might be slipping around, or the scope innards could be trashed from the recoil (it can sometimes happen even if the scope is airgun-rated). I would try taking the scope off, and do some short range target shooting with open sights and a bench, maybe 10-15 yards and see if it groups well. Don't even worry about point-of-impact yet, just aim at the target's bullseye and see if the pellets group consistently. If that's the case, the problem is likely your scope and/or mount.

Whether you're using open sights or a scope, make sure you check to see if the two screws in the forearm and the screw in the trigger guard (I can't remember if it's the front or the back one) that hold the stock to the barrel/receiver are nice and tight. Especially when the gun is new, they can loosen up over a short period of time in a hard recoil airgun like the Powerline 1000 and wreak havoc on accuracy. If you find the screws at all loose, go ahead and remove them, clean any oil off of them with a little isopropyl alcohol (I use lighter fluid because I have it handy), and use a Q-tip with the same on the female threads. Let the threads dry for a minute or two, then use a drop of LocTite (the blue kind, NOT the red kind) at the end of the screw threads and tighten them down snugly (don't strip the threads out, He-Man!) and let the LocTite set up for several hours or, better yet, overnight. That should eliminate another potential source of inaccuracy.

Hope that helps,

Bryan

I had some problems too and realized that the big phillips head screws that hold the break pivot had loosened. After tightening them and re-sighting all ways fine. Check this regularly as they will continue to get loose and that allows the barrel to shift in the stock. Don't use loctite.

I too recently purchased the same rifle from SG...it soots fantastically well with the iro site...I had the same problem as you with the scope and found the rings would not stay still, I have a Leapers one piece ACCUSHOT mount ordered, which should fix that problem...good luck with your fix.......Jack
