I need to take the seal off the piston so that I can polish it (the piston). How do I do this without damaging the seal? Russ S., I've read all the great info on your site, but you don't mention removing the seal-- probably because its so obvious. Unfortunately my old brain isn't seing it--Please help! Thanks, JR. PS. If I do damage the seal, who sells replacements?

JR, I do not know of anyone in the US that offers replacement piston seals for this gun. Because of this, I would try to work around the seal rather than remove it and run the risk of damage. My main concern would be that removal of the seal would distort it due to the nature of the material.

The seal simply slips over a ridged portion of the piston. The rigidity of the seal material makes it a bit difficult but a small flat blade screw driver should help. It is a very common method of fitting the seal to the piston but the size of the seal used in this gun is different from all the others I have encountered.

There are some folks out there that make custom seals but there isn't much demand for this gun. You may want to look into obtaining seals from distributors outside of this country. Last I knew, there was a distributor for the Hatsan brand in Canada. I would have another seal on hand before removing the old one.

Russ S. Thanks so much for all the great info you have given me, and others, about the Powerline, and also the Wal-Mart Beeman RS2. Now, maybe I can help you just a bit! This guy comes highly recommended by Tom Gaylord and has piston seals--breach seals--and mainsprings for the powerline 1000 (probably will fit others also, but you would know more about that than I). Anyway, the airgun site is JG AIRGUNS.BIZ and this will get you directly to the parts, http://jgairguns.biz/catalog/index.php?cPath=78_186_198 Sorry, I don't know how to make links. Hope this is of use , THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE HELP YOU PROVIDE. JR.
