OK, I read a lot of post on how to fill the hollow stocks. The one guy filling it with scrap memory foam, another filling it with spray foam, and one guy filling it with dry Portland cement. Thank you to all the great contributors.

Here are my thoughts on the easiest and least destructive filling method. Drill a ½” hole in the butt plate all the way through. Tap the hole with a 3/8” pipe tap. The plastic is really thick here. Fill with whatever material you plan on using and plug the hole with a 3/8” pipe plug. Fill the resulting depression with black silicone.

Here are my questions:

Do I want to add weight? If so do I want to fill the whole thing or just part of it? If so, just part of it, the front of the stock or the rear?

Is the stock air tight or would sand leak out and into the action? I am thinking of filling it with really dry play sand. I will bake it for a couple of hours in my powder coating oven.

Maybe the extra weight will keep the rifle from kicking so hard and shearing off the scope stop? If is does shear off can I MIG weld it back on?

Should I just stick to using the spray foam?

Thank you,
James

I went ahead and filled the entire stock with play sand. I used a funnel to aid in the filling process. While filling the stock I kept shaking the gun to settle the sand. I slightly overfilled the stock and used the pipe plug to pack the sand in tighter. Use the kind of pipe plug that takes an allen wrench, or use a large set screw.

This does add a bit of weight to the gun, but I am not tracing all over the county side with it. I took a couple of test shots with it today and it made a wold of diffrence. It is much quieter and the kick has been reduced quite a bit.
