This is my experience with the Model 1000.

Rather than spend a lot of money on an air rifle, I enjoy seeing how much I can get for the least cost.
Just call me "Cheep". I recently purchased a "remanufactured" Winchester model 1000 from Sportsman's Guide for $49.00. It had some dings but looked structurally sound. I replaced the sear spring with a ball point pen spring to soften the trigger pull. I installed a cheap (there I go again), Center Point 3-9x32 scope and tried it out using Crosman Premium Hollow Point pellets. After a few rounds to adjust the scope, I was able to consistently put shots in into a 3/4" circle at 25 yds. This, is not cheap, it is called "cost effectiveness". I wonder how much more accuracy I can get for my money from a "quality" gun made in Germany or England?

you'll be amazed .The mainpring in mine didn't even have the end coils closed, much less dressed flat.Fixed that.Put in a hardened washer to replace the soft one at the back of the spring, removed the piston weight/spacer,tapped the port, stoned and relubed the latch piston, tarred the spring. It still wouldn't group.Turns out the bore was tight at the breech, rough, and loose at the muzzle.Fixed all that and now it shoots as good as it looks, and scopes don't move.
