Response to Why KMS?
I wonder that too -- it might be that Chemnitz was really pretty obliterated -- especially the centre of the city -- during the war and became almost a model town for the DDR era development. But then, there were others of which the same (or more) could be said.
Its a shame that the BRD does little to encourage Sorb language and culture -- you may know that Bismarck (facetiously?) claimed to be a Wend (Sorb) rather than a German. Many such small, isolated linguistic communities seem to have died out (Manx and Cornish in the UK also).
