Well I don't think the SSP carry much clout in Scotland these days and I don't suppose that option will appear on any referendum in the very near future. As you say, dominion status, similar to the constitutional status of Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Jamaica or the Irish Free State from 1922 to 1937 is exactly what the SNP are calling for with their formula for an independent Scotland under the Crown within the European Union and the Commonwealth.
What neither the SNP nor the Scottish unionist parties (Labour, Lib/Dem and Tory) are talking about in any great detail is the "devo-max" option that seems to be the SNP fall-back position and the choice favoured in some way by the Scottish Liberal Democrats and the CPB judging by the recent Foster articles in the Star. I assume this would be similar to the powers that the old Stormont government had in Northern Ireland rather than the watered-down devolved N.Ireland assembly we have today.
