To limit myself to one point: is it not the case that the balance of power between labour and capital can be more or less in favour of labour in a capitalist society? Is it not therefore the case that a communist party should attempt to move such a society in a direction in which the power of labour is increased and that of capital diminished? International factors play a complicating role of course, but such an approach does not posit a transitional society that is neither capitalist or socialist. It does suggest that socialism is easier to achieve under some conditions than others. What application such a view has in present-day Greece is another matter, and one I feel relatively unqualified to talk about. |
