In relation to KKEs position in relation to alliance building. KKE state:
...the concentration of forces for the social alliance in Greece will be created, through the rallying of forces in common front of activity of the organizations of the All Militant Workers Front (PAME), the All Farmers Militant Rally (PASY), Nationwide Antimonopoly Rally of the Self-employed and the small Tradesman (PASEVE) , Greek Womens Federation (OGE) and the Students Militant Front (MAS). It is this common activity which will determine how quickly we will have a fully-formed socio-political alliance at a political level of the anti-monopoly anti-imperialist forces. Only this work can create bonds with the working class and popular masses. In any case the communist cannot build anything without persistent work amongst the masses, constantly guided by their strategic goal of socialism and by the alliance which will lead them there, by strengthening their party, which is the irreplaceable leader of the working class.
From 2011 Document: Strategy for the correction or for the overthrow of the system?:
Doesn't sound like a "socialism or nothing" line to me but maybe you were not referring to the KKE as such. As far as I can see, KKE seem pretty well stuck into work in a variety of mass movements and communities and on a wide variety of issues. Not to mention their international work and the fact that although they are not in the government, they will still be very active in the parliament.
Although all contributors to this discussion might not agree in their assessment of KKE, I think we may agree they are worthy of our attention.
It will be interesting to see if their support as measured in votes recovers in subsequent elections.
It is very helpful that they produce so many reports and documents in English on their web site. However, a word of caution is that sometimes meanings can become distorted in translation. There have been one or two occasions when I would have liked to check the original document in relation to one or two things (eg use of word 'power') but could not find it.
