Came across this on the web - written by exiled South African communist Ron Press. Interesting stuff about his time in the UK. He mentions a Bristol comrade who I met on one of the Potsdam teachers' courses in the GDR - Jack Evans. Anyone have any update on Jack?

Jack died around 10 years ago or so. A great comrade, hugely respected in the NUT nationally as well as locally. He was, I think, Bristol branch secretary of the CPB when he died (a position then taken over by Denver Walker). When the Timex strikers, the North Wales quarry workers etc. needed solidarity, it was Jack who organised the visits of strike delegations to see the Bristol dockers, bus workers etc. - and they would come away with large sums of money collected at workplaces.
