Skin-terview: Matthew W. Mungle, Academy award winning makeup magician
Dr. VCR: Do you feel prosthetics help an actor get into character, or make performing more challenging?
MM: I think it helps them get into character, if they are real actors. Such as Gary Oldman in "Bram Stoker's Dracula." As we put him in makeup as Dracula, he became that character. In his case, application took four hours. I am very cognizant of the time it takes and I rarely take more than three hours to put on the makeup. I have my job, but the actor has his job too. If I was an actor, I would want to be a character actor and wear as much makeup every time. | |
