We (four owners in North Yorkshire) had an impromptu "rally" today and my son has put some pictures on the web @ http://davidjennings.co.uk/bus/4buses/4buses.html. The captions are: 1.Paul Jenkinson (Richmond, North Yorks) at the wheel of RML2422, taken from The Rocket. 2.The Rocket leads the convoy (you can have them here!!) outside Ian Staves’s house (RML2678) in Northallerton. 3,5 and 6. The four at a friend’s farm near Northallerton. 4.The farm owner (Keith Blenkiron), Alastair Broadwith (RML2645, Thirn near Bedale) and Paul Jenkinson ascending without a safety net to get a different vantage point…. 7. The Rocket leads again in the first ever line-up of four Routemasters outside St Gregory’s Church, Bedale. 8.All four back at Northallerton’s “bus station” (occupying all the bays!)

Lovely photos. That would have been an event worth seeing. Maybe you will be able to do something similar in the summer as a joint project with the Wensleydale Railway - last time I was on that line back in September there was a really nice Bristol MW single decker met the train at Redmire.

Thanks for the compliments Alex! Good idea about the Wensleydale Railway - I'm sure Alan would be up for it as the WR is one of his favourite places too!

Brian,
Nice to see the pics of your little gathering , who owns the ex 73 RML ? I take it that it is one of 2391's Tottenham sisters ?
Happy new year

Hi Mark - RML2678 is indeed from Tottenham and belongs to my friend Ian Staves, also from Northallerton. She was bought from Steve at Ensignbus about six months after Ensignbus 32 Presentation Day (ie June 2005). Ian crawled underneath The Rocket to fix the transducer cable and was so impressed he had to have one!! We drove her back from Purfleet together.

Hi,

Just to add re. the route 73 entries above,I am the owner of RML2267 Ex route 73 Tottenham. The bus was acquired in the Ensignbus 32 raffle, just over 2 years ago (thanks Steve & all at Ensignbus). The bus resides on the Gower Peninsula, Swansea and only last week took a trip to Rhossili cliff top on Gower on a fabulous (rare) sunny day.

Regards

Excellent pictures from your North Yorkshire gathering - thank you. Hello to Mark and Andy, I too have a former Tottenham '73 - RML2372 now at home in the Kent countryside not far from Tunbridge Wells since June 2005 ( Thanks also to Steve at Ensignbus )

Brian ,

I will get around to doing the article for the newletter about our gathering in Richmond last June when 3 RMLs took over the town square . A rare sight indeed .

Just a thought ........ how about the possibility of us EX Rte 73 Owners having a get together in the Midlands some time convenient to most who wish to do it .

Alan

I came across this thread again whilst browsing and thought people might enjoy another look at the photos using the link in my first post. All the buses are still here in North Yorkshire, two of them now forming the fleet of Wensleydale Omnibus. Each bus is from a different company (well, almost) - London Central, London General (which are of course in the same group), London United and Arriva and they were registered in successive years.

No specific plans Mark and possibly a bit less likely as two of the buses are now used commercially but you never know.....
