my own view on the RMXL is, not bad, but there are a few things about the design that need revising. The most significant is that it should still retain the traditional half-cab frontage which is the most pleasing aspect of the Routemaster. I also believe that it would be more appropriate for the wheelchair accessible doors to be located in the middle of the lower saloon to allow for the front N/S seat to be maintained. This is a favourite vantage point for many passengers. Finally, I would recommend a two-piece RMC/RCL destination box to allow for intermediate destinations to be displayed.
Even though I would advise Alan Ponsford to go back to the drawing board, I don't think he is too far away from the finished article, but he still needs to incorporate the Routemaster's best features, and the half-cab would be an essential part of that design.
