Slowest bus EVER. I hated this bus with a vengance when it was on the 11s but it seems to be the only ex-RA vehicle to go into preservation. Maybe I should start liking it.
Nah.

James ,
Your listings must be way out of date then -- Mine are accurate to DEC 07 // JAN 08

Don't forget that other bus we have both driven Steve, RML2465? Wouldn't pull you out of bed and I used to drive her with no passengers for her current owners when she was being used as a promotions bus.

Just a word about speed. When we bought our old girl (sight unseen) and I went along in fear and trepidation to pick her up I was told that there was something keeping her from going quickly. True enough there was. The accelerator linkage was incorrectly adjusted. That was all it was. I actually left it as it was for a long time just to keep the wear and tear down on the engine and everything else and when I did make the adjustment I only slightly altered it.
Cheers!
J

2262 used to be a fine bus until it was involved in a head-on at Bank junction with a builders van. Shortly after the accident it had a refurbed engine fitted and a few parts replaced and it was never the same again. You could floor the throttle and the thing would gradually chug away until it gained enough momentum to change up a gear, usually just within the stopping distance of the next bus stop.
2465 was the same, but I think that may have been down to bad setup - tell the owners to have the engine and gearbox looked at as prior the fatal service, it was actually faster in Auto than in Manual!
I found out today that 2680 (another ex-RA bus) is also with a private owner. If you read this site or somebody that knows the owner reads this, have a look at the upper deck floor frame - it may be a bit bent and a bit welded.
