Folks ,
The RM Association members met on Saturday 26th Jan in the confines of the newly refurbished etc London Transport Museum in Covent Garden .
A very good atmosphere prevailed over the meeting in general and for those interested perhaps the following will reassure you of business as usual in ALL AREAS ...
Some points of note .....
Overall a good year for us in general albeit with the sad sidestepping of commitee members in MAY which at the time didn't help . Those of us remaining carried on wth the ' business as usual ' banner flying and came thro' with better than anticipated results .
Membership is rising gently as we get close to topping 450 in number which means more work for us and we still need your patience and help occasionally . This makes us without doubt the largest single vehicle group around . Thankyou
ALL IMPORTANT committee posts were filled with a very positive result in the Treasurer with his knowledge of Banking / Financial requirements and the Secretary being with over 40 years experience in the preservation world .
An apology for the erratic dates of the newsletters was made and also a new attempt to bring it all together with inclusion submission deadlines being made to help this along .
For the Next newsletter we would very much like FAR MORE INPUT FROM YOU as owners etc , the fact being that each and every one of you has a story of you & your bus lurking around thats needs puttng in print , it might seem trivial to you BUT to others it might just be the info & help they need ... Please write something , there are millions of Routemaster fotos out there BUT not of what you are doing or have done with your bus are there ? ..
WE were able to offer for the first time in years a set of fully AUDITED and signed off accounts to those present showing we are in financially good shape and indeed far from 'skint ' . These accounts are for the year ending 1st OCT 2006 >> SEPT 2007 . Copies available .
OUR RM Assoc' WEBSITE has been fully rewritten /revamped / relaunched / tidied up and went live over this weekend . We hope you like our efforts and thanks to our Webmaster Pual Green or all hes done for us here .
We are still moving in the direction of parts aquisition and location of manufacturers of parts for you . To that end it is now very likely we will be having a small continuous stock of ' QUILL DRIVES ' [ Brake pump drive shaft ] Manufacturered at members beneficial prices . Several other parts are being considered by the committee .
Sales ... I was pleased to be able to offer the following .. We will shortly have available BRAND NEW ORIGINAL INDICATOR EARS rubber lenses holders for anyone with these ' ears ' on their buses . Its a fact that most of these old rubber units are in very poor overall condition as the rubber is perishing thro' age , particularly in the area of the join to the ears body . These rubber units will fit the following bus types ...RT / RTL / RTW / RF / RM / RML and several more ..Due to a unique deal arrangement Initial prices are expected to be somewhere around £50 per pair for Association members , they will also be available to NON association members . Hopefully they will available at COBHAM in April ..
Mention was made of the fact that the RM ASSOCIATION will be 20 years old later this year and who knows we might just do something to celebrate , would you like that ?? .. watch this space
Thats the AGM in a nutshell ... Any questions , just ask & if we can answer we will .
Thanks for your tremendous support through an eventfull year so onwards & upwards for this one whatever it holds ..
