I'm getting some blinds made up by Norbury Blinds and am a bit hazy on interim destinations for the front and side boxes. Can anyone tell me correct ones for any of the following routes? 11, 12, 52, 88, 137 and 159. Many thanks.

Hi Sam - it depends what period you are going for but there are some good illustrations of blinds showing intermediate points @ www.londonbusroutes.net/routes.htm - click on the green boxes

This is an excellent small company which I visited several weeks ago ... about 30 minutes walk from Birmingham New Street Stn . Don't be put off by the '' front door '' as theres no formal entrance as such , just knock hard and it wil be answered
They have the correct fonts info and can print anything you want ..
The more detailed information you want on the blinds the price drops .
If you wait a few weeks before finalising your order they are installing a new huge printer which can print anything in bus blinds info direct from Computer once the artwork is set up . This printer will print direct to Tyvek so the old method of ' screen ' printing is now obsolete .. or soon will be !!
They have a modern version of the old ' Paper & Cotton ' arrangement which is good for being modern but stick with TYVEK if you want a good end result .

Just a word of caution. Excellent site though it is, the "blind" details shown on the posted site do not, generally, represent what was displayed on Routemaster Buses. I think they are just sample places served by the routes to help the user identify the route they want. They don't seem to be based upon actual blinds. The ultimate destinations are also, in some cases at variance with the displays shown on buses in font style as well as information.
It is an invaluable site for determining the extent and operation of routes and types from garages throught the years.
For determining the actual displays, which varied across the years ...and to some extent, the blind labels in stock at Aldenham. There is no real substitute for locating and copying actual blinds or extensive research of photographs ... depends how accurate you want them really !

Often detail varied on intermediate points between garages.
for example the 65 route had the same points on Kingston and Norbiton buses but when RML buses from Hanwell operated on Sundays the order and points differed. The same existed for the Mortlake buses on the 9 and Dalston buses at the other end. The Mortlake 73 points differd as well to buses up the road at riverside.
Generally though it was very consistent and most Londoners learned thier way round London by following the order of the intermediate points on the bus destination displays even if they were in the wrong order in one direction.
Something that again is no longer permitted as it 'might confuse'.
Best way is to go by reference from properly captioned photographs which will give you the period you might want and there's no shortage of good books to source this info.
