| - Hi Guys
after receiving basically a plea for help from an RM owner
regarding his MOT failure due to poor effiency
and imbalance.
on arrival at Watford the bus was put
on the rolling road imbalance was (with no brake applied)
8% when brake applied a staggering 68% was achieved
closer inspection found the the n/s top shoe was not even touching
the drum. it was then noticed that the NEW shoes that had been fitted
recently, were made of ASBESTOS and even then they were of different depths
causing the gap in the top shoe
the owner had in good faith bought these shoes from a 'reputable dealer'
in the London area.
PLEASE BE ADVISED
THAT ASBESTOS SHOES ARE ILLEGAL AND MUST NOT NOW BE FITTED TO ANY AXLE
(those already fitted can stay)
Asbestos shoes can easily be identified by:-
normally a creamy colour, very rough to the feel and texture looking
something like a knitted scarf and blue or green edges
kevlar shoes are dark grey/black in colour
and a smooth marbley texture
