Came across this mess during one of my recent travels ........ the entire nearside of this bus has been THOUGHTFULLY !!! fitted with this WOODEN FRAMEWORK for advertising use and it has ALL been SCREWED TO THE BODY WITH SELFTAPPING WOOD SCREWS , I watched it being done !! .......... I don't want to think about the inevitable corrosion that will set in let alone the water ingress as NO SEALANT WAS USED at any time ..... The company who did it have never done anything like it before -- quite obviously so then ...

What do you think ??

Hi Alan

Its a mobile over the horizon radar installation! Next stop GCHQ.

What would possess someone to put an advertising hoarding on an RM when, as we all know, the simplest way to achieve the same effect is to paint the whole of the bus. By blocking the view of the bus these folks will lose the benefit of the novelty value of the vehicle itself. Should have used a truck!!!

Also, if they have relied on self tapping screws into aluminium sheets they may have real problems with the whole contraption being blown off. We have all seen idiots on their way home from the local DIY shed with hardboard on their roof racks! They fail to understand the effect of putting a wing on their car until the whole thing is wrenched off by the aerodynamic forces. Since the Wright brothers' first heavier than air flight this effect has been known...!

I would submit that there is a real safety issue with this. God help any poor cyclist that gets clobbered by this lot blowing/falling off.

Cheers!

J

Somebody should warn Boris immediately. This might make the cyclist accident stastics worse for Routemasters than Bendys.
