Having read, daily as I do, all posts here , I noticed MARTINS brief reference to 'Forum rules' .
So to remove any confusion I'll try to clarify what is NOT tolerated ..
1 -- BLATANT COMMERCIAL ADVERTISING to creat additional business for the company OR website owner .. I pay dearly to keep SUCH ADS off anyway.
2 -- REFERENCE to 'eBAY' ROUTEMASTER bus sales IS ALLOWED as in cases to highlight sales prices , otherwise EBAY is off limits.
3 -- I INSIST on ALL users being POLITE to each other by using at least their CHRISTIAN NAMES when posting.'ANONYMOUS' posts dealt with or GIVEN ONE WARNING to use a name next time. 'IP'addresses are listed for reference and identity purposes.
4 -- NO PRIVATE HOME PHONE NUMBERS or ADDRESSES to be published -- MOBILES numbers can be used for convenience .. otherwise contact OFF GROUP.
5 -- NO PUBLICATION of ANY information concerning VEHICLES LOCATION addresses WHATSOEVER. County is sufficient, ie 'West Yorkshire'.
Everything else is covered in the Main Forum 'WELCOME' Introduction header .
OTHERWISE Martin, and others, feel very free to do what you like with YOUR BUSES WEBSITEs ... it may show what you've done with it or are doing BUT NOT advertising for REVENUE EARNING WORK FOR IT .... The RM ASSOC SECRETARY will gladly handle any such work requests 'IN HIS PRIVATE CAPACITY' for you as owners and it works very well.

Just to confirm Alan, the subject of journey planner websites for example that i posted the other day is ok as it's a link to help others in need, together with companys we have found that supply certain parts for RM's is fine too. As long as it's not your own company. Just checking thats all..
-----------
No probs at all .

Funny that ...............you are not allowed to advertise the hire of your bus commercially....unless you are the RM Association Secretary................Double Standards or what?
------------
There are no double standards implied OR suggested, the Sec simply holds a list of all known operators of class 6 ROUTEMASTER buses he uses as result of contacts made direct to him , he has never advertised anywhere on the forum...

I actually host 3 websites, the main one is the Land Rover business MDP Landrovers Ltd.
The second is my father in laws website who is retired but makes parts for model trains, his website is really a hobby - he will make a part and sell it for about £4 after spending about 200 hours making it!
The third one is actually for my bus - London Bus 4 Hire - which will be a sideline business starting from the summer with operators licence etc. as I have already told you by phone, the idea of that is that it helps pay for its own running costs as my main business is finding times very tough at the moment and the last thing I want to do is to have to sell my RML. I am also going to put on the site pictures of the restoration work I am doing and I hope to restore an RM to go with it in a couple of years.
I actually have space for another website which is already paid for which is where my idea came from to use it as a Routemaster technical information site with lots of information and pictures which could be built up over the years (the one about the batteries recently was an excellent example). I would be more than happy to administrate this but would suggest it needs to be through the RM Association and would need an expert (such as the Doc) to confirm the information was correct before it was actually put on the website in laymans terms which would range from the DIY cosmetic stuff through to the more indepth maintenance and repairs. I think it is worthy of future discussion.
To Mr Anonymous -
You seem to have misunderstood - Alan is actually saying that Mr Fuller, the RM Association Secretary, actually hands out prospective work to other Routemaster owners, not actually advertises his own for hire on this forum. As Mr Fuller asked at the AGM for any owners who do private hire work who have operators licences to pass their details on to him and he will send business their way if he has an enquiry in their area, as he has lots of enquires from brides who want to use a Routemaster for their special day but do not know where to get hold of one.
-------------
Exactly Martin, Mike F is very good and fair with his handling of this for various RM/L owners, being you were there at the AGM then you know the full statement.
