Just to say thank you very much to the legendary Doc (and the legendary Al!) for a GREAT day yesterday at "Watford Depot" - very professionally done with helpful support material and key "bits" to look at. Daisy (Doc's bus)looked magnificent up on stilts Well done gentlemen!!!

Sorry - it's too early for this - Daisy is Ed Rowson's bus (also in attendance)- ROSIE is Doc's bus (even though she is - a beautifully finished - green now!). Sorry Rosie (and Colin!)

Just to echo Brian's comments , great session . Thanks Colin and Alan
Nice to meet a few others and put faces to names on the forum.
Look forward to the next one !
Perhaps a few suggestions could be compiled on here , I'll start off with a bit about maintainence , we were given some paperwork about various topics on routemasters which included a list of lubricating poits etc , would be nice to be shown all these points on the bus , how and when.
The seminar was kept nice and fairly simple to understand and get a basic grip of what was what . Fully reccomend it to anyone not sure of their way around on a RM and if you do its a good refresher !
Quick message for Ed , hope you and Daisy had a safe and uneventfull trip back to Cornwall
Martin , hows the paint looking on your RML ?

Thankyou chaps , it was our pleasure to offer the help we know is needed and yes we'll do more if wanted ... The subject for part 2 will be --- 'how to use a left handed hammer // which end of a screwdriver do I use and how to operate a depressurised grease gun' ho ho ho ..
I hope the deliberate note of the location and difference between the AIR TANK RESERVIOR and TELLUS OIL RESERVIOR was noted !!
A most enjoyable day, thanks

The seminar was an extremely useful exercise, and as others have mentioned, I also look forward to more of the same in the near future. It was good to meet up and put faces to names appearing on here, and it would seem we share opinion on many of the issues ownership presents. Let us hope we can progress some of the ideas to fruition, and secure the future of our ownership in the ways we discussed.
Thank you to Colin for looking after 'daisy', and although her sojourn ended up slightly more expensive than anticipated, a number of components are now in a more healthy state after being in the RM hospital with the 'doc'. It was a pleasure driving her the 300 miles back to Treskyber, her country home in deepest Cornwall.
Mark.......Alan you would have liked this ride.
Thank you, it was nice to meet you and as mentioned above a safe trip back. It never fails to surprise me of the number of people who flash headlights, wave out of their car windows and generally seem delighted to spot a Routemaster in the countryside. This trip home was different because I resolved to keep off the M4 as much as possible and travel across country. I went via the old A4, and then down into Devizes,Trowbridge,Frome,Shepton Mallet. I then headed to Ilminster,Chard,Axminster and down to Seaton and the A3052 to Clyst St Mary,Exeter and onto the A30 to Redruth. Some of the places I went through were very narrow and interesting, with people staring in surprise at seeing a London Routemaster going through their tiny village. Finally arriving at Treskyber at 2200hrs and pitch black 'daisy was reversed into her parking slot in the cavernous barn, deserving of the rest to come. For me after 8.45hrs of driving, I was in need of a rest too!. This is what ownership is all about, the sheer pleasure of taking a Routemaster out on the open road, through our beautiful countryside and towns. Judging by the smiling faces seen on the trip, many others enjoy the sight of a Routemaster even if the person driving may seem a tad eccentric for owning one.
The serious point of this little bit of my own enjoyment,is that unless the vehicle is looked after properly and this can be expensive, the above trip would not have been able to have been made with confidence. Long may this continue.

Thanks for the note Ed,
Don't know that route as such but do know the place names ....... just doing the A30 from off the M5 heading into the western setting sun must have been awesome.. I'LL DO IT one day ... scenery == the hills / valleys / DARTMOOR / edges of EXMOOR == anymoor
Apparently the bus also has a new turn of speed now Cummins have serviced the engine !!

A very well run and organised day, well worth the trip, I think everyone learnt something and it was good to have the opportunity pick the docs brains.
I felt that Alan's talk on the gear box side and the bypass plug etc was excellent.
As others have said it is good to put faces to names and meet some like minded people and not the usual odd balls who turn up at the shows!
Ed - glad you enjoyed your trip back on Daisy - sounds great fun.
Mark - I am hoping to get Bulgy in the next couple of weeks. Haven't seen the paint work yet but have got my fingers crossed. I have got plenty of seats to carry on with while he is away - seems to be an endless task!!!
Peter - never did get your email but hopefully next time we could travel up together.
