Does anyone have, or know where I can get hold of, a band bracket that secures the cylindrical air cleaner to the mounting plate on the top of a Scania DS9 eninge? There are 2 identical brackets at the front and at the back of the air cleaner, and one of mine has sheared off. Have drawn a blank with Scania, who don't appear to have any drawings for the DS9. Equally there is no part number on the bracket itself.
Can anyone help please?

Peter ,

There are 3 Owners of SCANIA ENGINED RM buses who are well into understanding the problems of these vehicles ....

Mr Steve Anderson == RM 531

Mr Kieran Redman == RM 719

Mr John Keohane == RM 1872

With no disrespect to any on these chaps JK [1872] might be worth talking to as they have had various documented problems with their bus that have been overcome and as they are involved with railway preservation the art of welding is second nature .. so might be worth the contact effort. JKs contacts can also fabricate many things in metals ...

All 3 read this forum so watch for a possible email contact OR I can put you intouch ..

If you can get this part off and it is not a casting but a fabrication,
PAG in Trumpers way in Hanwell can copy it by laser and fabricate a new part.
They are very reasonable and the quality very high. More than one and the price drops so it might be that all those who have this type might want to club together.

They should be on the web, otherwise I'll dig out an invoice and post the contact number.

We have used this company many times over the years, steel alloy and galvanised stuff, always pin accurate.
Peter who used to be there has retired but Steve and brian are ever helpful.

Peter, I don't know this for sure as I'm not familiar with the scania units. But as it is is a modern engine , much of the ancillary components will be 'bought in from various manufacturers.
If you take the air cleaner off and clean it, it may reveal a manufacturers mark on it somewhere. This may lead you to the source of a new spare. It's a long shot but it's happened before and bingo!

Its a steel strap, shaped to go over the air cleaner. One end has a hinge on it, the other has a sort of has to put a nut and bolt type fitting to secure it. It snaps because people over tighten the fitting putting too much stress on the steel strap. Mine had snapped before I bought the bus, it was broken when I viewed it. Remove the air filter housingand just weld it up. dead easy.

To all who have responded,
Many thanks for all the good ideas.
We will make some enquiries and update on the solution.
