Hi
I am after the colour codes for painting the down stairs ceiling of an RM. I am after just the down stairs and have been informed that B&Q sell a paint which is near to the colour of SUNG YELLOW.Does anyone know the name of the B&Q paint and/or have any spare Sung yellow i could buy. Also how much is required.
Around the ceiling rivets i have some corrosion, how have other people tackled this problem.
Many thanks
David

Hi David,
Think I have some paint details somewhere at home . I've used Milton Keynes Paint and Equipment ltd for some of the paint I've used on 2391 . They will mix paint for you and I've had them mix HMG brushed enamel for me . Excellent service as well . The Busworks used HMG paint on 2391's paint job

B&Q is an expensive store which sells paint for houses, not Routemasters. Household paint has a different formulation to automotive paint, while it will do the job, so would emulsion or childrens water paints. Use the right paint for the job, it will give the correct finish which will last, unlike household paint.

Both the Farrow and Ball and B&Q Heritage paints have an excellent shade of Sung yellow. In fact the Farrow and Ball one is the very same spec as the original LT one. BUT...It's an emulsion and not available in Oil base.
Although F&B will make up the same shade in oil base as a special order and it is very good high quality paint that will be fine for the interior, it will also be F&B prices (very expensive) so it is better to go with the motor factors coatings that are listed here.
What we did was use the F&B sample to get auto colours to mix the same shade by computer analysis but is a top quality brushing enamel.
Worked out miles cheaper.
