Good Evening everyone,
I just thought i would share the latest pictures of 2719's progress. She is back in one piece externally and 90% internally. She is not i repeat not finished in any way shape or form. I am on a major deadline, my daughters prom is on Friday evening of this week and i have to have her roadworthy and looking reasonable by then!!!

I have decided to paint the repaired and replaced panels for now and then spend a couple of weeks preping her properly next month. I will then strip out the interior and prep, taking her back to Sung Yellow and Rexine etc. I shall also be reupholstering in LT Tartan Moquette.

The main thing is she is no longer in danger of being scrapped! She is in for MOT on Thursday morning and provided there is no major troubles will be painted on Thursday night ready for a final clean on Friday.

Finally before anyone comments about originality, i am aware that the number plates etc are not correct, but until i can find a suitable replacement box, i am happy to just satisfy legal requirements.

I will of course post pictures as we continue, but thought you may like an update.I will be making some thank yous shortly, without all your help, we may not have been where we are today,

Thank you all and well done!!!

Given the severity of the damage, I think you have done a great job is such a short time, just goes to show what you can do with the correct skills.
Fingers crossed for thursday.

2719 testing time

Despite how it appears externally there is obviously a great deal of work gone into it, all the best for Thursday

As it is first used/registered in 1967 it qualifies for the slightly lower brake efficiency threshold (which is NOT programmed into the RBT computer);
45% service, 20% parking, not 50%/25% and make sure they don't get funny about glass markings (BS/Kite) cos it don't need 'em!

Also don't forget to allow time to go to your nearest LVLO if you are changing the VED/RFD class to 'Historic' (£0)from 'Bus'(£500) -(as it is currently).

Mark

sung yellow

You probably already know, but I'm pretty sure 2719 was one of a batch only had sung yellow on the upper deck ceiling when new.
The lower deck ceiling was originally white shade ( I've forgotten the correct shade name)
I also remember travelling on some of these late buses on the 207 when they were brand new and I remember the top deck light bulb holders being arctic white but the ceilings being sung yellow.
Anyone else confirm this?

Wanted to add my words of congratulation.

An astonishing achievement in very quick time.

Ropey is correct about the ceilings. White lower deck ceilings (officially magnolia) arrived from RML 2561. Upper decks remained yellow.

Chris, could you send these photos of 2719 on to Leon Daniels for the next magazine?

Graham L and others ,

I have spoken with Chris some weeks ago about the possibility of doing what will be a lengthy magazine article for us, this would probably be long enough to spread over about 3 or 4 mags not taking over just one completely therefore making the story a bit more interesting ...

He has umpteen digital photos of the works done to the bus from start when he went to get it towed home right to finish as hes shown us here which will be interesting to see in print.

Theres no doubt that he will carrying on this principal as hes got much to do to get the bus upto where he wants it to be ...
