Hi All

RML2603 is front page news in Fort Collins, Colorado after its appearance at Saturday's Tea Party.

If anyone is 'offended' by the above, just get over it!

Remembering what happened following John Lennon's infamous gaffe of August'66, I'd lock that bus away somwhere mighty safe for a while. With small-town America jumping on the latest bandwagon, as ever, and now wanting to boycott everything British, I'd be worrying about The Klan realising that it must have been driven, conducted and travelled-in by non-Whites.

Fortunately I don't have to worry about being able to afford to get over anything.

Wolfie.

No need to be rude. John has his bus on the front page of a news paper. It may have been hired to do the job, you dont know.

What have you done to save a Routemaster bus Wolfie. Not seen you on the forum before

Have to be quick, I fear the moderator is on his way and probably a good job too.

Dear Beth
I am heartened to hear of the miraculous recovery you have made in the USA, and sincerely hope the 'bowl' or even bowel problems do not rear up again. Since you make no mention of the cost of eradicating this foul up from the good old UK, I will assume the bill presented was very reasonable. My advice to you and John, would be to stay there permanently, after all whatever would you do if unfortunately an accident or further illness befell you here, and caused you to call the bad old NHS.
The truth of it, is that mistakes are made all the time in medicine wherever you might happen to live, but many people are alive today due to the skill and care of NHS staff.

I have to agree with Wolfie, lets get back to Routemasters.

Hi All

Colin B: Some more pictures follow.
Wolfie: Others are interested. What happened to the 'tolerance' the Left is always preaching to us?
Ed: About $500. Compares very well with the £50,000 that we will pay in UK taxes this year. That is my point.

Piccies follow:

David,
I've done plenty to further the cause of Routemaster preservation over the years, including selling you a pair of headlight panels for 1403 in 2006.

John,
It not a matter of tolerance, it's about finding a suitable forum to vent your political guff. This isn't the one.

so I say again, Keep it strictly Routemaster.

Thanks for sharing the pics John. Good to see the bus in good nick. I liked the one on the drive with work being done on it.

Oh by the way, I'm all for freedom of speech......

Have to admit I'm a little envious of you John being able to park 2603 in your nice wide drive-way. I've had 2271 parked outside my house at least three times, twice in the past three weeks to let my neighbours have a look at her, take them for a run and get some photos taken but my street and drive are too narrow to park her inside. Also, I was wondering how much it cost to build the garage you keep her in?

Hi Guys

Colin B: Thanks the comment. She's in pretty good nick although very dusty at the moment. The thing that we don't have but really need is one of those warehouse ladders on wheels that would enable us to get up alongside to wash the top and sides above the lower saloon windows. Its frustrating to see her not looking her best. A good dose of T-Cut wouldn't go amiss. After that we will see if she needs a respray but I think we'll be able to get away without that.

Graham: Thanks the interest. We are very fortunate to have the RV (Recreational Vehicle) building. It came with the property but was too low for an RM. So, a friend of ours who is a carpenter/handyman type solved the problem for us by jacking the building up (I kid you not) and installing a plinth which is about 2'9" high. You can see his efforts in the photo taken from inside the building. He chose a windless day (rare in Colorado) and I have a picture of him somewhere with the building in the air and him giving a 'thumbs up'. Very brave. He was one of the guys who helped me drive RML2603 from Galveston to Fort Collins, a distance of 1200 miles. Even with Ben's ability to drive around the clock it still took us six days, three of those were simply to get out of Texas! This place is so vast. Ben charged $3,000 to install the plinth (about £1,500 at the time) which I consider to be very fair, especially with the risks involved. It is very dry here so damp is not a problem; the real hazards are UV light and wind. The other thing is cold -26C is the lowest we've measured but so far she seems to have escaped damage from that as well. I keep the air lines drained of fluid and the antifreeze in the engine is good to below that so all seems well.

To Wolfie, Ed and Roy. I agree entirely, enough is enough, this thread will be locked.
Mr Morris, your routemaster pictures are a pleasure to view and the occasional routemaster related posts you make are very much appreciated and are a pleasure to read. Please refrain from "the politics" behind your posts and keep it to routemasters please!
