Hi - For some while I've been considering the idea of buying an old London bus, and I've come across this site. I do like the Routemaster I wondered whether anyone might be able to give me some ideas in terms of availability, the things to look out for and what sort of proce I might expect to pay. I should say that i've had past experience in restoring a classic car, although I appreciate that a bus is going to be much more challenging. All I'm looking for at the moment is to find out whether it's going to be a practical proposition!

Hi Vanessa
This is question which comes up a lot on this forum and there is a lot most of us owners can say about it! It might help to get started though to point out that this is a searchable forum - if you put "Buying Routemaster" in the search box you will get dozens of answers. Depends really what you hope to do with it, how much restoration you want to do - and how much you want to pay! Where are you based?

Many thanks for the advice. I've done a search and there's a fair amount of useful info. I've also found some useful stuff on another site called ROOF.
It's great that there are many people around who are willing to help. I'm just getting an idea of what's involved at the mo and won't be taking any rash decisions just yet!

Hi Vanessa
Whatever else a Routemaster is, whilst not being practical vehicle for everyday use, it is very difficult to lose an RM in the car park.
One of the less appreciated benefits of RM ownership.
Thank you
John
