Here is an interesting article that is also a shameless plug for my business. The print version had quite a nice photo that unfortunately you don't get to see online. Cheers, Sam

Nice article, and superb pictures on your website. BUT! Please be advised for future reference that such shamelss advertising is not permitted on the forum by the forum owner, Alan.

Thanks, Steve, moderator.

Confused about shameless advertising

Steve

I detest adverts that get in the way of my Internet and magazine entertainment but baring in mind that this is a bus or more specifically a Routemaster forum, if any bus or more specifically Routemaster advertising is not allowed may I respectfully point out the following:

1 Mr Higgs repeatedly uses this forum as a method of advertising to the very people he needs to advertise too and presumably for free. (and Phil, respect where it's due especially if the double page spreads in bus and coach preservation is also a free "news item" and not a paid advert. That is a result).
2 I have advertised my services on here although I have not achieved a free advert in the B&CP.
3 The RMOOA is constantly plugged although in fairness not necessarily by them as a business but certainly by their members including me.
4 We all constantly advertise on behalf of others every time we mention a possible supplier or service provider (I have just mentioned B&CP, Busworks, RMOOA oh and Demain UK Ltd, Chesterfield 01246 451500, London bus electricians and suppliers of electrical components).

Can I have some clarification of the rules please. This is not a wind up and I do not wish to annoy or upset yourself or my very good friend Alan but i would like to know what the difference between one blatant plug and another is please especially given that this is in fact a forum that amongst other things, helps with the continued running and appreciation of said Routemasters.

David

Not my rules!

Hi David
Don't shoot the messenger, I do not make the rules, this is not "my" forum, as moderator I just try to uphold them. Alan quite clearly does not allow blatent advertising on this forum, up to and including links to business websites etc. Readers of old may remember a case of a certain dealer in the North East who used to offer his services and fell foul of the "rule" leading to some unpleasant exchanges. I do not wish for anything of that nature to occur again...so I will offer a polite word to anyone who unwittingly may "offend". I will continue to do this until Alan may or may not decide otherwise. Hope this helps..
