Just finished watching End of the Century, The Ramones documentary, for the 3rd time in 3 days. One of the best doc's i have ever seen. poignant and honest, the way a real doc should be. no strings were pulled, no one came out looking like a hero. it was actually a sad ending. even though i have known the story of the Ramones for years, to actually see a person like Dee Dee later in life, so damaged and vulnerable was sad. i know his lifestyle and choices brought these damages upon himself, but it was still quite sad. there are some amamzing interview pieces with Joe Strummer and a few other musicians. and of course amazing footage from CBGB's and many UK shows. if you haven't seen it, which most of you probably have, than i highly recommend it.

I haven't seen it. I have previously heard that it is a superbly made documentary though. You may have inspired me to finally get hold of a copy.

Is it insightful? Did you learn anything from it that you didn't know before?

For everyone's information:

The DVD of  End of The Century: The Story of The Ramones is on Play.com for £11.99.

i'm Back!

Hey, sorry it took so long to get back to you. i couldnt get back to the site for a few days. anyway, End of the Centur did teach me a lot. very insightful. it is very candid and you learn what each band member is really like, as well as who was in the band at which points. but the life of Dee Dee Ramone is such a sad one, that it was difficult to watch one of my heroes so vulnerable and beaten by life. the DVD made them all very real. it's also amazing to see how the Ramones affected the Punk movement in the UK. there's a great anecdote by Joe Strummer explaining the first time he and the Sex Pistols went to see The Ramones and how Joey Ramone and Dee Dee snuck them all into the show through the back window. it's pretty crazy.
