I went to see Supergrass last night, it was the first time I've ever seen them live ((after 10 years of touring, I'm not sure why?!)) but they absolutely blew me away. They are undoubtably one of the best live acts I've ever seen. If I could go and see them again tonight I would!! My legs ache today from dancing around from start to finish of the set.

Everyone should go and see Supergrass!

Another live act I would TOTALLY recommend are British Sea Power - everything about these guys is great. They can't put a foot wrong. It's time people realised that they're probably the best British band of the last couple of years. They are also lovely guys.

Go and see British Sea Power!

And finally, everyone must go and see Agent Blue, buy their records and support this wonderful young band. They are the last REAL punk band. If you see Agent Blue live and do not get the biggest kick out of it then you are either numb or stupid. An Agent Blue experience makes you wanna thrash around uncontrollably, throw things around and start a riot, that's how I want my punk/rock music - feverish stuff, great!

Agent Blue should be your new favourite band!

Who've you seen recently that has made you go "WOW!"????

Please share.

Iggy Pop

May 22 2005, 11:33 PM

So...

I made it a point years ago to see Bowie, Reed, Iggy Pop, and Brian Eno at least once in my life. After having seen them all, without a doubt, I was most blown away by Iggy Pop. Sonic Youth opened the show, and could there ever be a better opening act? Iggy then came on with the Stooges and i felt like i was transported back to 1971 with Iggy dancing and stretching and sweating all over the stage. i dont know if anyone could ever match him on a stage. It's definitely a sight. other than that, Sponge Bob is right on the money with British Sea Power. i went to see them in NYC last saturday night and they were incredible. I went to see Five O'Clock Heroes and the Ordinary Boys as well. they were both solid, but didnt blow me away. When i was in the UK i did get to see Art Brut and they were incredible. It was at the Barfly in ST ALbans. great show!

Ordinary Boys - yes, it's true. They are the bollocks. The man speaks sense.

Best band i've ever seen live has gotta be the strokes was just bloody excellent, i dunno if it was the fact it was at a festival with a really good atmosphere or just the fact i was on the front row dead close to julian, mmmmm, I've seen agent blue millions of times around stoke, its good to see a local band who went the school down the road grow up into something big :D

Just to play Devil's advocate... but it's my honest opinion....

I was at V last year (Weston Park, Staffordshire). I generally don't like V as a festival, it's a little sanitised and there's not much spirit BUT I have to say it was actually semi-enjoyable last year. The Pixies, Charlatans, Chikinki, BRMC, Kasabian, Kings of Leon, Faithless, Massive Attack etc all made for a couple of decent days.

The Pixies were awesome, a great festival band, what a riot... AND frankly I found The Strokes very disappointing after them.

I had previously seen The Strokes play in London and in Cardiff and on both occasions I thought they were a good live act, much better than they were at V - particularly in December 2003 in Cardiff, that was a great show.

I think the V line-up is actually much better this year.

There are some great LIVE bands; The Hives are brilliant fun to see live, The Departure are excellent and The Prodigy are just amazing. Doves = great, I Am Kloot = nice work and Goldie Lookin Chain will make you cry laughing. Oasis, no matter how dire the new material is, will not disappoint live, as soon as you hear the opening of Live Forever or Cigarettes & Alcohol you will remember why you loved them oh-so-much all those years ago - tears may be shed.

hmm i dunno, although they put on a good show was it worth waiting all that time sweating your arse off to see them play 20 minutes at cardiff? my boyfriend at the time went to the ally pally gig and said it was amazing. It was my first V festival last year, after the dissapoiintment of the killers and a few more i thought the strokes were ace, cant say i saw the pixes tho i was poising myself with burnt sausages or something. looking forward to seeing the strokes on tour tho at the end of this year.

20 minutes?! Er.... no, they did a 40, maybe 45 minute set. And if you don't sweat a bit at a gig what's the f*cking point - you're obviously not having a good enough time!
