CARL GETS 'UNDER THE INFLUENCE'
CARL BARAT is to release a compilation of his favourite tracks for the latest ’UNDER THE INFUENCE’ collection.
Drawing on bands from The Clash, The Mamas And The Papas, Supergrass to The Streets, the former Libertine will put out the collection on June 27.
Speaking about the album in the sleevenotes, Barat said: “Growing up at the time and in the way I did, there can be no continuity or order in the music that fed me… So, in summary, make mine a pint and I’ll see you by the pool with a book of poetry and an acoustic.”
The singer follows in the footsteps of past ’Under The Influence’ curators such as Morrissey, Ian Brown and Paul Weller.
Carl Barat’s ’Under The Influence’ tracklisting is:
- The Mamas And The Papas – ‘Dream A Little Dream’
- David Bowie – ‘Oh You Pretty Things’
- Bob Dylan – ‘Hurricane’
- The Small Faces – ‘The Universal’
- The La’s – ‘Son Of A Gun’
- Supergrass – ‘Sitting Up Straight’
- New York Dolls – ‘Personality Crisis’
- The Clash – ‘Remote Control’
- The Jam – ‘Eton Rifles’
- The Stranglers – ‘No More Heroes’
- The Specials – ‘Too Much Too Young’
- The Smiths – ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’
- Moldy Peaches – ‘Who’s Got The Crack’
- Pulp – ‘Sorted For E’s And Wizz’
- The Streets – ‘Fit But You Know It’
What a great compilation. This is probably gonna end up being my CD of the summer, a great mix of artists and genres to chill out listening to in the sunshine.
