Agatha Christie - Evil under the Sun

I've had a few problems running this great game but after downloading the patch and following troubleshooting instructions from the Adventure Co site I thought I was winning. However, I just can't get past the cutscene when Poirot puts down the sandwich in the Smugglers Inn for the dog, the game just crashes saying eut.exe has failed. I know this is a linear game so maybe a saved game won't help, can you offer any advice please Mr Bill, or anyone else who has played it?
