I roasted a quarter pound of Indian Matadakad Estate Peaberry beans on Saturday. This time I took photos, which I should have back by tomorrow. I'll be sending them to Steve so he can put up a pictorial on coffeenerds.com

I also took some shots of my french press all disassembled for those who have never seen one.

I'm curious about the French Press...........

Does the coffee taste better than if you had brewed it in a regular coffee maker?
Do you get little grounds in your coffee ? (hate that)
Are they really expensive? (I may ask for one for Christmas)

yes, I think you get a more flavorful cup of coffee. Better than any auto drip maker.

yes, there are grounds in your cup. just don't take that last sip.

No, you can but a french press from $15 on up. I have a Bodum, Chambord 6 cup model. It cost me $39 at Target. I love it.

I am the only coffee drinker in the house (unless we have company). Just be aware that many of the french presses use the tasse as their unit of measurement. A tasse is equal to 4 ounces. So, when I said I had a 6 cup French Press, it is really about 3 American cups of coffee. More like 1 1/2 cups if I use one of my larger coffee mugs.

I also think the price has come down some. You may be able to get the six cup for $20 bucks now.

I have to antique tasse sets. One was my great aunts and one was my grandmother's. Good ole southern ladies from South Louisiana. I just wish I had the nerve to use them. I'm so scared I'd break them.
