So, I don't know if you know or not but I've had this little "project" going on in my dining room. Well, after ripping down horrible wallpaper, the sheetrock paper came down with it and I ended up slathering on quite a bit on joint compound over most of the wall. Then, I had to let it dry for a day and after it dried, I had to sand it out smooth. Well, dummy me..... I sanded and sanded and that wall looked so good that I needed a cup of coffee after that. I carefully messed my "good stuff" (I hide that in a secret stash so he won't find it) and went back to my project. Upon hearing the "I'm done" final gurgle of the coffee pot, I eagerly made a cup and sat down for my break. Good Grief! My coffee tasted like joint compound! That dust had drifted all the way into my kitchen and sucked into my coffee pot. I'm so *!***$#, well you get the idea. Now I havet o vacuum everything in the entire house. But, my dining room wall looks great!

I went to Lowes and picked out this paint called Granite in "Earth Stone" color with little bronze flecks in it. Really deep dark red with brown base. I mean "RED". This is a textured paint that adds a sandy finish to the walls - it looks so awesome! I'll take a photo when I'm finished with the clean up work.

My husband was really worried while he was helping me paint it.....

he kept saying "do you like this? This is really dark, (blah, blah)"
And he hated it because it was so hard to roll it out on the first layer and looked really streaky. The second layer had to be hand painted in an X pattern. Now, he really likes it. I don't normally put really dark colors on walls, but in the formal dining room - it looks really nice.

I've had to do most of the work by myself and when the hubby does help, he complains that it is going to make his back hurt so he quits on me. I still have 2 more bedrooms and one bathroom to repaint. I hear ya and feel your pain!
