For those of you enjoying Diablo 2, but frustrated at the lack of a good
messageboard or (ha) newsgroup, give this a try:

Lot of good discussion with a largely intelligent and reasonable user base.
Now where's the DiabloBand? :) I want socketed items! Sets! Pets! (er, well,
maybe not) Random Uniques (monsters that is)! Minions! Rares! Gambling!
It's certainly been a good ride so far, but Shank needs some very sought after items to continue his foray into the depths of D2...a better-than-Rage ATI Pro graphics card, and more RAM. Until then, I shall be forced to tolerate inhuman amounts of lag and the deaths which subsequently occur after 40-60 second lag bursts. Oh well, I'm still cracking some major skulls in nm act 3, so we'll see what happens. After all--I do have to be the highest level Sir on battle.net ;)
two concerns
1) minimum req'ments - I have G3 with 96MB Ram and not much HD space. I'll have to wipe out a lot to fit it, and this is barely over 'minimum' requirements. Knowing how awful it runs on the PC with their 'minimum', i'm scared
2) I was hoping it was a hybrid CD so I could on occasion go PC-to-PC with my PC copy and the new one. not a biggie
Outpost.com shipped my order today. Overnight delivery...hmm it should be in Denver right about now.
*sniff sniff*
Yup, it's in Denver. Now hopefully my wife is home tomorrow when the Airborne Express truck drops off my package. If she's not she'll get a stern talking too (hee hee.)

It runs 'slightly' worse then Hellfire
Hellfire took quite a while for the game to actually load to the point where I could select "single player", the 'automatic cinematic' didn't help much, It slows down quite nicely when there are more then 3 things on screen, as did Hellfire when I was in the Crypt (never happened elsewhere though...)
But one notable difference is that when I've been playing a while and hit "save & exit game" it takes a good MINUTE (!!!) just to boot me out to the character selection screen
On a side note, If you look in the "blizzard product catalog" in the starcraft/brood war section, there is a picture of a marine holding a rifle with a bayonet on the end, now open up the poster and look to the far right, THERE'S A DWARF HOLDING A RIFLE WITH A BAYONET!!! Not very 'original' huh? Heck, they even have the same facial expressions! Oh well...
Callera, Last of the Vrin-Latti, fingered the tassels hanging from the blade of her spear nervously. She was no stranger to battle, as she had in the past few months, joined countless bands of mercenaries and sell-swords. She saw death more than the average solider would, and she was proud of her grace under pressure.
She could not get over how quiet it was in these woods. Nothing moved, not a leaf stirred, as she waited for their enemy to make its move. Finally, a rustling as something behind the Amazon entered the clearing she was in. She spun quickly, and hefted her spear, ready to impale her target.
The Barbarian stood there, holding his mailed hand up to her in a defensive move.
Nervously, Callera lowered her spear, but did not let her guard down.
Sha'uri entered the clearing next, with Tyr right behind her, as obedient as ever, and waved for Callera to put her weapon away.
"We are alone, there is nothing within a good two miles of us right now." Said the snakewoman, as Tyr nodded sheepishly, before adding his own comments.
"Likely they heard the tales of the brutal Amazon haunting these parts, and decided they'd be better off in the Monastery."
Callera narrowed her eyes to slits, and wondered exactly what would happen to her if she drove her spear through the young paladin.
Sha'uri then told the group, "Come, let us rest for the evening. Tomorrow we need to reach the Tahoe Highlands, and beyond, the Monastery."
* * *
Callera is stationed as the guard for that night, though she knows The Barbarian is awake even then. She could not figure out what he was, as he never seemed to eat, or sleep. He unnerved the woman in countless ways, just as he attracted her to him like a magnet.
Suddenly her violet eyes leapt from the 'slumbering' giant's body, to the woods surrounding their clearing. Someone was approaching.
Tyr was out of his bedroll in seconds, and held his scepter before him like a claymore. "The dead watch us."
Callera gripped her spear tightly, and waited for the monsters to make their move. The Barbarian moved from his bedroll as well, and held his axe patiently.
Finally a large hand, roughly the size of Callera's skull, pulled apart the brush surrounding the clearing, and out came a humanoid figure of mud and clay. Callera drew her spear back, to impale the monstrosity, when a second one stepped into view, and then a third.
Tyr lowered his weapon slightly, though The Barbarian did not. As soon as the golems stood within the clearing, several more humanoid figures exited the brush. One was a skeleton, pure white bones all around, with only a loincloth and a light circlet of silver to adorn it's undead body. Magic pulsed from it's deep eye sockets, and also from the being's skeletal hands.
The other two were more human, standing roughly eight handspans each, and each wore a brown cloak covering most of their bodies. One stood forward, holding a long object surrounded by rags and cloth. He tossed this item to Sha'uri who had just risen from her own sleep.
"You were looking for that I believe, Sha'uri."
* * *
His name was Everett Call, and he had single-handedly recreated the lost Order of the Horadrim, using scrolls and tomes from his mentor, Horshast Saul, and Deckard Cain, both descendants of the original Horadric Order.
He was also one of her mother's companions, from her adventures into Tristram decades ago.
The cowl of his cloak hung heavily over his brow, covering what would surely be the scar that the mage took to contain Diablo, the Lord of Terror, in Callera's mother's previous adventures.
His companion's name was Marius, and he was a monk of the same order as Call. He was the more silent of the pair however, as he seemed to be haunted by unseen demons.
Tyr was not welcoming of the two's presence, or the presence of their companions. Call assured them that they were harmless, but Tyr could not so easily be abated. Callera had begun to wonder if the paladin's awkward mannerisms of late were not the cause of the golem and skeleton presence, and instead due to Call's presence.
The two, Paladin and Necromancer locked eyes quite often, as if in a contest of wills. Sha'uri luckily hurried to stop any violence that would erupt. She held the slim package that Call had delivered to her reverently, and started to unwrap it's shaft.
It was a long staff, made of the most purely translucent emerald stone that Callera had ever imagined. It was adorned with countless runes and words of power, and it was no surprise to Callera to find out that it was a staff of wizardry.
"You left that behind, the last time you visited Sha'uri. I know how much it meant to you, so I figured I might hunt you down and deliver it." Call's voice had an edge to it, that sounded dangerous, as generous as his words might seem.
Callera turned towards Sha'uri, not quite sure what was going on. "You have been to his Temple before?"
Sha'uri nodded, upset with the turn of events, "Aye child, I helped him build it. We all did in fact."
Callera looked around suspiciously, not sure what to say at this, until Tyr broke his staring contest with Call, to look very seriously at Sha'uri. "Sorceress, you overstep your bounds."
Callera's mouth opened in shock at these words. The normally subservient paladin was never this serious, and had never said anything remotely threatening to the more powerful sorceress. He was likely going to be hit with a bolt of ice in one second.
The bolt of ice never came, but instead Sha'uri backed down from Tyr's glare, and slithered deeper into the camp, away from Callera and the necromancer's entourage.
"Come now Tyrrynan, surely you cannot keep the identity of those around you a secret for too long." Said Call, slyly as ever.
Tyr spun on him in anger, and seemed ready to strike down the Necromancer. The skeletal mage behind Call crackled with energy, and the golems seemed ready to clobber the young paladin. Tyr looked over his shoulder, and looked directly at Callera. "Callera, leave. There is a war brewing, and I will not have any innocents be lost to it-"
The Necromancer laughed. "A war? Between you and I? I think not. What chance would I have against a 'person' like yourself?" There was a subtle mocking to Call's words, but Callera couldn't help but wonder if there was truth to it as well.
To partially answer her question, Tyr's eyes flared, and the golems all fell to the ground, now nothing but broken pieces of dirt and mud. The skeleton flared out of existence, dust on the wind. Marius shuffled nervously behind his master, but Everett Call did not move a muscle. Instead the cowl of his robe flittered off of his temple, and revealed the pulsing bump on the man's forehead. Veins raised all around the scarred over gem, and Callera could see the blood pumping throughout the mage's now glowing arteries.
Call's eyes misted over with blood, and his mouth opened in a silent howl. Tyr did not move from his position before the Devil, though Sha'uri did grab Callera by the arm, and yank her backwards.
"You do not wish to be part of this battle child, as we will be lucky to survive a mile from here." The sorceress signaled for The Barbarian to follow the pair, as they made their way out of the clearing. Callera looked over her shoulder long enough to see the clearing erupt in white light, but she could see little more.
The hairs on the back of the Amazon's neck started to stand on end, as Sha'uri suddenly stood erect and looked behind her in fear. Callera looked around confusedly, starting to head back through the woodlands towards Tyr, before the Barbarian grabbed onto her, and forcibly dragged her away. Callera struggled against the mailed giant however, and knocked his great helm from his head.
Her head spun around, to see what visage this man had, that he had to hide it from all of his companions. For a split second, Callera saw only a handsome black man, his neck corded with muscles, and his hair a slicked black color. Then patches of skin fell off, and the remaining skin grew taut and dried up. His hair took on a wispy texture, and fell out from the roots. The Barbarian decomposed before her.
Callera began to scream, before reaching for her spear, only now realizing it was left back in the camp. She started to run back there, to destroy the abomination before her, when Everett Call stepped in front of her, apparently done with the battle behind him.
"You do not like my handiwork? It is amazing he has remained that much composition, seeing as how he has not been alive for... how many years has it been now DiStephano?" The Necromancer turned to The Barbarian, who was readjusting his helm on top of his plate mail, and waited for an answer he knew would not come.
"Y- you did that to him?" Stupefied, Callera asked questions when she knew she should be running.
"I am afraid not child, your mother struck the killing blow. Though I was there to patch things up for him, like he once did for me." A fond smile broke out on the Mage's pale face, as he recalled past memories.
Callera was not sure to say, hearing these words, but it did mesh with what the seer had told her some time back. About her mother slaying a Barbarian before leaving the Tribe.
Behind her, DiStephano swung his axe overhead, and directly to the Mage's skull.
Call raised a gloved hand, and The Barbarian's throat constricted, eliciting a choked gasp from him. Sha'uri hefted her emerald staff, and began swinging it at the Necromancer, but one of his golems suddenly appeared from the vegetation, and grabbed the woman's staff in it's hands, and neither let it go, instead staring at one another in anticipation.
Callera suddenly realized that all of her companions were now incapacitated except for her. Call watched her with a gleam in his eye, a gleam matched for by the large red stone sticking out of the man's forehead. Callera's gloved fist shot out, and jabbed into the man's face, before one of her feet shot up and hit the man in the gut.
Her enemy doubled over, Callera easily slipped through his grasp, and headed back towards the camp. Sprinting into the clearing, Callera was surprised to see Tyr still alive. Indeed the young man turned to her, and his eyes shone with the same holy white light that he sometimes shot at their unliving enemies. He had a gaping wound in his gut, which seemed to be festering over. He held out a hand to Callera, seeking her own, and she complied, grabbing the man's hand to provide some support.
Images assaulted her mind. None made any sense to her, except for the one image that shone through it all. Her. She was being assaulted with memories of her as a child, or memories of someone who knew her as a child. Standing within the dusty plains of her homeland, she was a vibrant little whelp, who was more often running throughout the Tribelands by herself, and ignoring her mother's orders.
And she was also known to keep company with a young boy who sometimes frequented the Tribe, a young tan boy named Tyr. He was to be a monk of the Horadric Order, the Order her mother's friend was even then recreating.
Callera's hand shot back from the young paladin's own, and she looked at it as if on fire. Hearing a rustling behind her, Callera dove beyond the Paladin and grabbed for her spear. Landing on her shoulder, Callera rolled and took her spear with her, arms in tight to avoid broken bones. One of Call's golems were trashing the campsite, and was ignoring Tyr outright. Instead it came for her, determined in it's attack.
Callera's spear shot out, three times, viciously jabbing the monstrosity in the torso. Being an unnatural creature, such pain did not stop the beast, but instead it came on.
Tyr suddenly noticed the Amazon's peril, and reached for his own blade, which was shattered on the ground. Instead the Paladin placed his hand on his chest in a solemn prayer, before a glistening blade of pure light formed in the man's mailed hand. He swung the blade at the creature from behind, decapitating it, and destroying its power source.
Already the golem was reforming, as behind the camp Call exerted his will to summon as many companions as he could. Sha'uri and DiStephano could be heard fighting something deeper into the brush, but neither Callera or Tyr could locate the two. Instead the Paladin grabbed the young woman's hand and dragged her in the opposite direction.
"Tyr, we cannot! We need to go back for them!" Callera protested.
"Child, I ensure you that they will not live for another minute once Diablo has his way!" called the Paladin while dragging the woman by her arm.
"Diablo!"
"Indeed child, I fear Everett Call did not survive his inner battle! And the world shall pay the price for it!"
Callera followed obediently after these words, but not without several glances behind her. The forest began to burn then, as Tyr and Callera retreated into the Marshlands before the Tahoe Highlands. Finally the two stopped running, surely a mile or two away, and watched the blaze from afar.
* * *
Within the Dark Wood, Marius simply watched his Master work his powers on the warriors before him. He had been frightened by the dark skinned paladin, but now that he was gone, there was little to fear. And deeper into the forest, where Sha'uri and DiStephano fought to save their lives (or unlife as it may be), Diablo grinned in triumph.
You know I just reached Act 3, and if there is one thing keeping me from quitting this game (I have a brand new console game I could be playing), is the cinematics. Any chance to see Tyrael in action is fine by me. Damn are the Angels' sweet looking. And that blade he wielded? Was that Azurewrath? Mmm, Azurewrath.

Erim_Lera - Level 20 True Melee Amazon. Sword, Shield, Crown, Hail to the Queen Baby.
...I don't actually have a Nintendo 64, though I hear nothing but rave reviews about Perfect Dark.
The game in question is Final Fantasy 9, the import version. Damn Japanese language. It shouldn't be too hard. They say the English language is the hardest to learn, and I've got that one down pat, so bring it on!
...It's not just a whole new language, but a whole new typset. I mean anyone could figure out to read Japanese. And then need to learn kanji, and uhm, the other typesets as well. Not fun.
In game out of game. Good writing is GOOD WRITING.

Heck, my own tale about a certain Amazon has almost completely left the game a couple of times. We all enjoy a good story. (Just leave the laser rifles and sonic grenades out and we promise not to scream ;-})
Actually, I'm not that worried about keeping true to the game.
by
All that REALLY matters is the main plot points. Whether JW finds a Warrior's Scimitar of Gore in Andy's room or not isn't all that important ;).
I also think that I'll part from the "hordes of baddies" we see in-game, and make the monsters/demons fewer but harder. They are supposed to be horrible, after all, and Fallen just don't cut it ;).
How about it? ray's been helping out the employees of blizzard for years and is always mentioned in the "thanks to" section of the manual. He deserves a round of applause!

anyone have one they wanny trade or give away? i'm still in the market... what a sweet weapon that would be! thanks for any responses and have fun with D2.
... from armor to shields to ultimately weapons, are Rares and Uniques. I've yet to come upon a normal magical item that was more useful for a long time then a Rare .... well, except very early on, of course.
The rare/unique items simply offer too many additional features compared to their regular magical counterparts.
Actually, IMO this is a refreshing feature of D2 as compared to D1, where most "best" items for character classes were set in stone and were mostly vanilla magical ones ... mostly ;-).
Obviously, we pretty much know close to nothing about D2 at this point, but no matter what, D2 does feature a huge number of useful item possibilities .... just not blue ones :-).
"The Barbarian" and why I should probably proofread my stuff...

The Barbarian
Callera, Last of the Vrin-Latti watched the man go to work with awe. He wielded a mighty axe in both hands, though it seemed like a toothpick in his mighty arms. He swung it with minimal effort, decapitating two skeletons in the process. They quickly fell to the ground, released from their necromantic binding, and did not stir back to unlife.
She had watched him like such since they began traveling together. She didn't really need to lend her arm to the battles, as the other three quickly dispatched any combatants. She did however pay particular attention to this mighty man, and his ways with the axe.
It was mesmerizing, his skills at destroying any opposition. As soon as something entered their path towards the Black Marsh, Sha'uri would stand in the center of the circle the other three formed into. She would cast several spells, usually destroying any opposition outright. When something got too close however, or avoided her magical fury, The Barbarian would bash, smash, and generally thrash anything moving. He very rarely used his axe, more frequently relying on his brute strength to take down his adversaries. As a last resort, Tyr would wield his scepter like a mace, and beat the enemies into bloody death.
Callera very rarely needed to move actually. But she did. She took pride in her skills as a Amazon of the Southern Plains, and quite often destroyed some enemies before they could even get within two men's heights of the group. Her skill and aim with the javelin was unparalleled, and when something was actually brave enough to approach her, thinking her the weak link in the group, she would wield her javelin as a spear, and jab the enemies to death.
They were an efficient group, but their efficiency was matched by their determination. They sought the Monastery of the Sister's, much like many adventurers did these days, and their passage was long wrought with danger.
A danger it would be hard to overcome, considering Callera could not take her eyes off of the massive beast of a man, and his flowing black chain mail. When he moved, muscles rippled like waves of water, sending the chain links ebbing about him, seeming a flowing black death of metal and muscle. Callera was fascinated by him, just as much as she was appalled at his brutality. She enjoyed a good warrior as much as the next Amazon, but he was... very blunt in his approach. And perhaps it was simply the way she was raised, but Callera could not respect someone who did not use at least a little strategy in battle.
Several hours later, Callera sat at the campfire, watching Tyr gut the rabbits she had slain for their meal. He was an excellent cook, and could turn a meal as sour as Quill Rat meat into a feast suitable for... well a peasant, but it filled the appetite nonetheless.
The Barbarian was guarding the perimeter of the camp, at Sha'uri's wordless behest, and Callera had not seem him in some time. She took this opportunity to approach the Sorceress about The Barbarian.
"Sha'uri, may I have some words with you?
"By all means child. " The Sorceress looked about the camp, uneasy for some reason Callera could not place.
"It is about... The Barbarian."
Sha'uri nodded, as if she suspected this conversation long ago. Which unnerved Callera.
"Yes, I figured you would grow suspicious soon enough. Indeed, he is-"
Cutting the Sorceress off, Callera spoke the question she had long wondered. "Why doesn't he speak?"
Sha'uri stared at the girl for a long while, her mouth agape at this question. "He has no... talking... mechanism. " The Sorceress stuttered.
"You mean a tongue?" Callera offered, thinking the Sorceresses mannerisms even stranger as of late.
"Yes, that. He has no... tongue- that's what you wanted to know about him?" Sha'uri was clearly confused by Callera's question, but Callera had no idea why.
"Well that and..." Callera glanced around nervously, thinking the man near the camp, spying on them.
Sha'uri smiled reassuringly, a sign Callera took to mean The Barbarian was not around.
"What is his name?"
Once again Sha'uri's mouth hung open.
Just then The Barbarian in question stepped from the woods, and Tyr stood up holding one of the dead rabbit's by it's feet.
"Dinner is served." Said the dark skinned Paladin while handing a dead rabbit to Callera and Sha'uri each.
* * *
Callera laid on her back that night, staring into the dark and malevolent leaves of the Dark Woods, and wondered as to the answer that Sha'uri never gave her. Engrossed in the dinner, and the eyes she knew were always on her from the cloaked Barbarian, Callera had never brought it up again. And now the woman-snake slept soundly, hissing ever so slightly to belie her inhuman nature.
The Amazon looked to the ever-vigilant Barbarian, who sat on a rock, toying with a loose strap on his axe. Suddenly his face turned from the axe, to look directly at Callera, and she quickly rolled onto her side, to avoid his unseen eyes.
* * *
And deep within the Monastery of the Sisters of the Sightless Eye, a blue-haired woman looked to the night sky above her, the same sky her daughter had just minutes before been looking towards, miles away. The wind swept through the mountains, and within the Inner Cloister, this woman heard a voice, and a question unanswered.
Whispering ever so slightly, in a voice that sent several small creatures scurrying, her answer drifted on the wind: DiStephano.
And so I went back and read some older material today, including last night's tale. I changed a large chunk of things, mostly just bad grammar but there was one story element I changed. Nothing terribly major I don't think.
Anyway, my point is this. I just wrote that, in the course of an hour or so (with a half hour off to watch South Park. My god that was hilarious), and never read through it to check for bad grammar.
Why? Because it's been about two and a half hours since I've played Diablo 2. Anyone with an addiction to crack cocaine may know the urge I currently feel, so I wrote it, posted it, and am now running off to continue it in digital form.
I'll edit it later, when I have less time to play.
WT
Callera, DiStephano, Call, and Scheherezade among others.
Well for numerous reasons, work is the place with a fast, pace I suppose, and home is the slow one.
by
And I mean I've played my fair share amount of D2, but it most certainly is not Diablo 1. I mean, for Diablo it was about a year, maybe two years after the fact that I wrote the first stories about Erim and her companions. And now it's within a week or two of D2 coming out that I've started.
Honestly, I'm really bored of Act 1, and I still need to get one Sorceress through there, so I'm not out of the water yet. Also it's kind of a mental thing. I've been like, forcing myself to quit long enough to work on a story, if not complete one. It's the same problem I have with my 'real' stories, or I suppose my nonfiction ones, that I get too distracted to complete any of them.
Oh well.
I'm happy you enjoyed it however, just as I hope everyone enjoys my next tales, which will likely be named "The Necromancer" in keeping with the theme.
"The Gathering of Bodies, the Harvesting of Souls"

The Gathering of Bodies, The Harvesting of Souls
Summer set in hard that year in Sanctuary. The people of Westmarch would tell you that it was the hottest summer in recorded history, but others would tell you of 'that summer'. The Summer of Evil. When Diablo, the youngest of the Three Prime Evils, was found in the bowels of a Khanduras church. That summer, some would say, was hotter than any thing these days.
Callera had not been alive for long that summer, and she most certainly did not recall it, but she was willing to bet that if it got any hotter, she and her companions would be dead.
The Amazon stood amidst several Sisters of the Sightless Eye, the group of Rogue's who protected pass from Westmarch into Aranoch before their Monastery's fall. Run out by a demoness who was known as Andariel, the few remaining Rogues now set up camp in the forests of Entseig, near the base of the mountains.
Callera was one of many travelers in the camp these days, as countless adventurers were trying their hand at the dangers poised by Andariel's legions. Being more realistic, and sensible, Callera hired herself out to the Rogue Leader, Kashya, as a mercenary to run reconnaissance work in the area.
She sat on the back of a horse that was entering the camp, when a sudden urged forced her to peer behind her, to look at a small band of travelers heading out into the Blood Moor. A Sorceress among the group bore the strangest similarity to someone, someone Callera could not quite place her finger upon.
Sliding deftly from the back of the moving beast, Callera landing running, following the band of adventurers as they made their way towards the Cold Plains, and beyond, the Tahoe Highlands, where the Monastery lay.
Someone at the rear of the group, a paladin by his looks, turned and looked directly at the approaching Amazon, and raised his mailed hand before her, halting her progress.
"Who goes there?" said the Follower of Light.
"I am Callera, last of the Vrin-Latti, and I was wondering if you sought another companion. I am well trained with any pole arm, and can throw a javelin ten men's height." Callera was indeed an impressive woman, despite the presence of some, irregular, Amazonian traits.
Her hair was like black silk, with a sheen that would make the fairest of Westmarch princesses green with envy. Threaded throughout her mane were strands of the most singularly blue hair that one could imagine. Her lips were lush, and plump, not unlike a freshly ripe rosebud, and were naturally the color of lilacs. So too were her eyes of this light purple shade, and surrounded by her olive complexion, some might call it dusky when she had not bathed in several days, she was a stunning beauty.
And to contrast deeply to this beauty, were the instruments of war she carried with ease, and the light armor of a woman used to being stealthy.
The Paladin cast an approving look at her, and his face took on a lecherous look that Callera had had to wipe from several young men before. But just as she was growing ready to shatter the man's nose, the Sorceress pulled herself from the group of travelers.
In hindsight, Callera would have definitely remembered this woman had they met before. From the waist up, she was a comely woman, of indeterminate age, who had a nest of chocolate colored hair flittering about her head and shoulders. Seemingly imbued with a life of it's own, the hair tickled her brow, and coyly toyed with the shawl about her shoulders.
From the waist down however, she had the legs of a snake. A long scaled escaped from the woman's shawl, to trail behind her quite some ways.
The Sorceress/thing approached Callera, and looked at her appraisingly. Not as lewdly as the Paladin, but just as interested. Finally, the snake-woman raised her face, and looked Callera directly in the eye.
"I know where your mother is."
* * *
Callera had been searching for her mother for almost eight months now. Hearing a tall tale about her insanity, it was told that Erim Lera had attempted to pass through the Monastery of the Sisters of the Sightless Eye before it's corruption. Whether she had made it through or not was never acknowledged, as more people were concerned with the Monastery's occupation now, than it's travelers beforehand.
Now this complete stranger was telling her that her mother was in fact still holed up within the Monastery, fending off her antagonists. Callera had found the whole tale unbelievable, and as she looked to each of her new companions, she tried to fathom what had brought them all together like this.
To her immediate right, was a brutish barbarian in full chain mail armor. No inch of his skin was visible, and he never spoke a word. He was the muscle, and seemed to do just as the snakewoman asked. And she never spoke to him, making it that much more eerie.
Next to him, and across from Callera at the campfire they shared that night, was the snakewoman, Sha'Uri Ssethnithonosshal'ra. After hearing the woman's tale, Callera had found it hard to believe anything she said. But she also knew of this woman. Her mother used to speak of the woman sorceress, who appeared to be a demon, but had the powers of the Gods themselves. She actually lived among the Vrin-Latti for some time, but Callera had scant few memories of her. Apparently it were the remaining memories that brought them together however.
Next to Sha'Uri sat the paladin, Tyr. A Follower of the Light, Tyr had come from Kurast to try and lend his spiritual aid to the Sisters of the Monastery. Apparently he had procured for himself quite a reputation however, as he was not often allowed into the Camp unaccompanied by Sha'Uri.
The four sat in silence that night, before a campfire. The Blood Moors was devoid of motion, or life this evening, and the companions were able to make camp peacefully enough.
Callera lay in on her rough bed of dirt, and thought to how the night had changed her life so much. When she awoke, she had accompanied Gwinni, her companion, and friend, among the Rogues to the Den of Evil to search out some powerful beast. By the time dinner was to be served in the camp, she had had the first real lead into her mother's location in months.
Her eyes closed then, giving her away to slumber.
* * *
The Monastery was not so peaceful however. In the deepest recesses of the catacombs, a fell creature moved about her throne room, sensing something new, and something dangerous in the land around her. She would perhaps have a true challenge yet.
I would have probably written more last night, but the sleeping pills I had imbibed were taking their toll on me, and I knew I'd be in pain this morning when I tried waking up.
I might be able to get some writing done at work, if it's slow. Mmm, chapter two...
Well I have several more characters to introduce...
by
...including my other sorceress, amazon, and my necromancer, but there can only be SO much coincidencal meetings in one day. Besides, if I dropped all of the bombs now, what would I have for chapter 22? :)
... or haste. sorry to post here, but it seems the trading post
hasn't updated in a month, and that back drop gave me a raging
headache:
http://network54.com/Hide/Forum/29059
if i may, does anyone have a king's great axe of haste or speed
they would wish to trade? i'm sure it's a rare find! and i know
it's not overpowered at cl 30, cuz griz has offered me a king's
axe, and a axe o haste, even a king's maul of haste, but not that
one desired weapon yet! noone is in trading post much, mostly D2
players. looks like the D1 well is running dry. so let me know,
my bnet # is 15278601, i go by Heidi'sCleaver. thanks and have
fun.
Well, this actually has nothing to do with Batham, but I refuse to say the name of the other Bat-person since Batham is more Diablo-related. Anyway... I do have 2 Kingly Great Axes.
KSoBlood (nice stats, I think)
KSoTitans (can't remember stats)
Is mace mastery (2-handed) a good pick for LA and WW?
by
I´d like to what would be the best mastery choice for weapons with the highest damage. In normal mode, the great maul looks best (because weapon speed is irrelevant if I´m using Leap Attack and Whirlwind). But how is it in the later stages of the game? How common are good magical blunts compared to other weapons? And how good are they compared to them?
Or would axes or swords be a better choice....?
And do the high-level two-handed weapons do considerably more damage compared to one-handers, making a weapon and a shield a good bet?
Thanks.
In my experience, thus far the most damaging weapon I have seen is a mace, the great maul. However, my barbarian is only in the end of act 1 nm. What I would suggest doing, is getting a plain great maul and hanging onto it. When you complete Charsi's quest on nm difficulty, have her imbue the great maul, it will rock. The closest thing to a great maul is a pike, which deals 14-65 iirc. The pike is also 2-handed with very slow attack speed.
I found out that the Martel-de-Fer (the alternative great maul) does 61-101 or something like that.
However I found a decent long sword in hell (6-42), very fast, and +170 or something to AR, plus something :)
So I went for sword mastery and a shield. The point is, the higher-level swords should deal a lot of damage and partially overlap the damage advantage of the great mauls.
Plus, shields, as we know, are superb. Having a 70% chance of blocking every strike, getting lots of def (maybe even hundreds) and resistances from perfect diamonds to boot is just too good an offer to pass imho.
This way I can even fight using the regular attack, because of the sword´s speed and the shield´s defence (Of course only when it´s not necessary to use a skill.)
I lost the portal created by Horazon's Journal. Can somebody please use their waypoint and open a portal for me so I can activate my waypoint!? I can arrange to play any day at any time. Just let me know when. My char name is Moonie_Pie and my account # is 5624257.
i found one. vicious sabre of trouble, is this a good item? tell me:
damage 1-8, +66% to damage, -7 to all attributes, requires 17 strength, durability /45.
if you want it, i'd be glad to give it to you. but i wonder if anyone is left, or is everyone now at D2. respond to this post and we'll set a time to meet, or see me in 'strategy forum' channel.
respond to this message, tell me where and at what bnet time, and i'll be there! i'm posting at 7pm bnet time monday 7\11\2000 now, i'll check back again tonight and tomoro am, i'm on east coast time. don't delay! monsters are waiting to be killed!
I'm looking for Tal Rasha's Tomb. One of the last quests of Act II. I have the staff put together and I found the book. The first time I read the book it opened a portal right next to me. I had to quit playing for the night. I started it up the next day, went back to where the portal WAS, and it wasn't there anymore. I reread the book and searched the entire area again and I can't find any portal. Where did it go?
This is a known bug in v1.01 :(
The portal will never reappear - you need to have someone go to Canyon waypoint, throw you a portal, and get the waypoint yourself.
For those not there yet, when you get this red portal, do *NOT* quit before going through it and immediately taking waypoint.
Alas, if you're like me, you'll lag for 10 secs and be _slaughtered_ on entrance, then spend a half hour and/or much money recovering, when tired and wanting to quit for the night.
Sorry -- on the good side, v1.02 should surely fix this bug
The instant-death-on-entry thing happens to me if I play multi. For example, Drasca and I played a game with our clvl 26 and 27 Paladins. We, for the heck of it, went to kill Andy. An easy kill, right? Yeah, for Drasca. When Andy's room was opened I met a lag screen for 2-3 minutes and when it unfroze I was a corpse and Andy was dead. I could, of course, hear everything that happened during that time, but I couldn't see it. The physicists are wrong: Sound can travel faster than light. They just never factored in lag. :o]
... And that's why I play single player... Worst thing that happens to me in SP (aside from out-of-memory crashes) is a frame rate slow down: no lag rushes or teleporting monsters.
I MIGHT be going to my cottage tommorow. Not sure yet. Also, my Bushido is only lvl 28 (Very Close to lvl 29) so I dunno if it will be 30 by then. I hope so. I will see tommorow.
My original message should have read: I thought it was quite clear that "Woooooooo hooooooooooo!!!" translates from Crazed Mac User to "D2 has gone gold."
/me thinks Woody should update the settings on this forum..
Darkman
This post was made by someone using the name "Woody", but this post ALSO mentions "boogers", so either Woody has finally gone to the deep part of the deep end, or this isn't the real Woody...
Grarrrg
P.S. I appologize for actually VISITING the DII forum, but hey, I got bored...
Answers to "Grarrrg's Quiz-O-Rama" have been posted as a reply to that post; I will not have access to the internet from July 8-12, so don't wonder why I'm not around; and a special note to Lemming, within 2 weeks I should have my copy of DII (paycheck comes next week)
Guess I better figure out what class I want to play...

quickly! I also need to come up with some catchy names for them. I might just have to draw out of a hat to pick the first one. I'm torn between AMZ and BAR I think. I'm about sick of magi from D1. Oh well. I have heard that the realms are running a little smoother now and that patch 1.02 is coming out soon.
Horns blared in the distance as Otrere jogged to the East. Solestri would be miles ahead by now with his damnable teleport ability. She hoped he wore himself out and had to sleep since she planned on running through the night. She cursed herself for revealing that the darkness beneath Tristram was on the move to Charisena. Sure enough the Amazon Queen was raising the Amazon Nations and their allies in an all out effort to destroy Diablo before he could take root in another place. Otrere meant to rescue the man that the demon had taken, or kill him herself. She owed Solestri at least that much. At least she could take some comfort, knowing that it would take days for the armies to mass and follow her.
A short way from town she saw a young woman, dressed in armor approaching. She wore the colors of Caramour. Could this be Solestri in disquise? Otrere was never sure around mages and legends told of wizards with the ability to change their form. Cautiously, she slowed to a walk and greeted the woman.
'Hail mistress of Caramor', Otrere greeted the woman. 'What business brings you to these parts.'
'Greetings stranger,' replied the woman. 'How come you to recognize these clothes? Caramor is a good distance from here and rarely do we leave our land. Except in time of need.' The last part in a whisper.
Otrere sipped from her waterskin extended it to the stranger, who nodding took a drink. The old adage, 'No one poison's herself to kill a stranger.' was in effect.
'I have met a knight from your land,' answered Otrere. 'Perhaps you know him. His name is Solestri.'
The stranger coughed and thrust the waterskin back to Otrere.
'Where did you meet him? Where is he now?' she asked.
Otrere studied the face of the woman. She knew that Solestri was the most hunted man in the land right now, but this woman seemed more worried for him than eager to kill him. Looking closer she saw a family resemblence in the woman's eyes.
'You are Riara, aren't you. Solestri's sister,' stated Otrere. The woman nodded. 'He told me of you while we dined in Tristram, just down the road from here. I am Otrere of...Tristram.'
'Is he still there?' asked Riara.
'No, he isn't. In fact I am chasing him now.'
Riara's eye brow rose slightly, 'Chasing?'
'Your brother and I were fighting a demon lord in the catacombs beneath the town of Tristram. Whilst I dealt with the minions, your brother attacked the creature, slaying it and removing a gem from its forehead.' Otrere turned away and continued.
'We discovered that the demon had possessed a young boy and was using the boy to carry out its dark purpose. Solestri discovered that the demon was trapped inside the gem shard, and before I could stop him, jammed it into his own forehead. He said he had to go to the East, where the Horadrim came from and search there for a more permanent container for the demon. He wouldn't let me come with him.'
'Sounds like him,' smiled Riara. 'Always the nobleman, saving the damsels in distress, carrying more than his share of the load.'
Otrere bristled at Riara's comment about damsels, not wanting to lose a potential ally, she looked away. She hardly considered herself a damsel, though she had been in need of assistance when the knight-mage rescued her.
'I fear he has taken more of a load than he knows,' stated the former Amazon. 'All of the forces around Tristram hunt him now. That's why I must find him first. To save him from himself and those that would seek to kill him.'
'He can't be far if you set out to catch him right after ... Who seeks his death?!'
'The entire Amazon Confederation,' was all Otrere said.
Whistling, Riara paused to consider the import of that single statement.
'He teleports,' began Otrere. 'That should give him a good lead on the others. I am heading East to either catch up to him or get in front of him. One way or another I'm going to catch him.' Otrere stared hard at the Huntress of Caramour. Solestri could now move great distances leaving no trail. If she was lucky enough to find where he landed, there was no way Otrere would be able to tell which way his next leap would take him. She could be heading in the wrong direction already.
'I will help you,' said the Gothic Rogue. 'I have an amulet to which our family members are attuned. It can tell us which way Solestri is located. Maybe we can catch him before anyone else does.'
Taking the amulet from her neck, Riara closed her eyes and raised it above her head. Slowly she began to chant Solestri's name, her brow became furrowed with the strain of the link. Suddenly her eyes flew wide and she shrieked, dropping to her knees and vomitting. Otrere put her arm around the rogue and comforted her.
'What happened?' she asked.
'The demon...Solestri...',Riara took Otrere by the shoulders and stared into her eyes. 'The demon has taken control of my brother. He is in the direction you were coming from. I could sense his power growing. He seized my mind and showed me what he was doing. It was an orphanage. There are no more children there now. He laughed at me and said I was next.'
Otrere recalled an orphanage just a few miles outside Tristram, she had passed it earlier today.
'We must hurry,' she said. Grasping Riara by the arm, she lifted the rogue and set off at a trot until the woman collected her wits. Otrere increased their pace, now racing to catch up to Solestri, to help him fight the demon. As dawn approached, the sky began to darken and the wind increased. The orphanage was just ahead. Several thunderheads collided overhead and rain began to pour from the sky. Otrere slowed her pace to keep her footing and listened. A voice shouting over the storm could be heard.
'Aperio limen malam insomnium regnum!'
It was Solestri! Suddenly, a portal opened in front of Otrere and skidding to a stop, she drew her sword to search for the possessed mage.
'Where are you,Solestri?' called Riara, nocking an arrow to her bow.
'Why are you following me?' cried Solestri from across the field
'You know why,' replied Otrere.
'Did the witch send you?'
'Brother, we have come to help you.'
'Begone,' he shrieked and a wave of fire sped between the mage and rogue.
Riara ducked behind a tree and winced as the flames passed her. Solestri was much stronger than she remembered. Shaking her head, Otrere glanced about for the source of the voice. Solestri would never refer to any woman as witch. The demon was in control, for now. She saw the knight across the clearing, sword drawn and shield ready, but his face was contorted, as if fighting an internal battle for control. She saw Riara preparing an arrow.
'Solestri, my love.'
Otrere approached him sheathing her sword and lowering her own shield. She offered her hand to Solestri. He raised his hands and a fireball exploded beside the girl sending her spinning to the ground. Rolling, Otrere sprang to her feet, blinded by the light from the explosion, she listened for the knight. She heard the twang of Riara's bowstring, then he was running past her. As Solestri passed, he lashed out with his sword. Otrere blocked the weapon with her shield and swung her blade at the mage's legs connecting with air and allowing a fist to land a blow to her temple. For a second time, Otrere dropped to the ground, hoping that Solestri could fight down the demon before she was killed. The sizzle of lightning followed by a woman's scream told Otrere that brother had slain sister. Weaping she tried to rise only to have her feet knocked out from under her again.
'Stop following me lest I have to kill you!' commanded the mage-knight and he leapt through the portal.
Otrere stood and ran towards the portal as it closed, diving to enter the realm where her love had gone. But the portal closed and she landed roughly on the ground. For a while, she lay on the ground weeping in despair and pain. She had to follow him but Riara needed her help. Resting she cast a healing spell to ease the pain, she crawled to where the Huntress of Caramour lay. She noted the burns covering the body and the eyes staring blankly into space. Carefully she drew out a scroll of resurrection and read the words over the fallen rogue. In a blaze of light, Riara's body convulsed into motion and she sat up before the former Amazon.
'Where is he?' asked the woman.
'Through a portal to who knows where.'
'We must follow him.'
Nodding Otrere tried to remember the words she had heard the mage use.
'Aperio limen malam insomnium regnum!'
The portal reopened, weaker this time. Otrere didn't have Solestri's magic strength and the spell weakened her to the point of exhaustion again. Slowly the pair drug themselves to the portal and fell through.

I don't want to create a fuss, but probably will. Should D2 discussions be held at:
1. Realms Beyond Diablo
2. The Asylum
The reason I ask this is, I know several of you have D2 and several of you don't. If you do not have it yet, do you want to read information from the game or wait until you can experience it for yourself?
My personal opinion is that D2 threads should post on the Realms Beyond Diablo forum, leaving the Asylum for Classic Diablo Variants.
If my question is out of line, I know you will tell me. (or even if it's my question to ask.)
I don't have D2 yet and even when I do get it I'm not too interested in reading spoilers, strategy tips, etc. I prefer to find that stuff out myself. Now you could say then I should just not read the D2 posts and there's no problem.. well, almost all the posts here now are D2 related and almost none of them state that in the title.. I think it would be better to have a D2 concentrated forum (Realms, and Lurker Lounge too) where D2 people can talk about D2 in peace and leave the Asylum to the classic variant players (there are still a few of us).
Rakhir, it was a question someone had to ask and I'm glad someone had the guts to ask it.
Lemming sighting in D2! + some unique item bragging/mourning
by LemmingofGlory
Note: Other than the items listed, I tried to keep this post spoiler-free.
Yup, that's right folks. I made it into D2 somehow! Here's what happened...
You might remember back in December, I started my 2nd Lemming named Pumpernickle. He, being both bread and Lemming, called himself Bremm.
Today, ShinyLemming (my D2 Paladin) encountered a boss named Bremm!!
Now to the next part...
Shiny is in Act 4 and his only remaining quest is to find and kill Diablo. During this crusade he happens upon a Crown and Gothic Shield... both GREEN (denoting set items!!). Now, they weren't from the same set but 2 set items within 2 minutes, that's AWESOME!... but alas, there was a battle going on that would take those spoils from him.
Shiny is in a constant battle with CPU lag. Most of the time it isn't bad. Things such as big monsters (Thorned Hulk and the like) and glowing monsters (ones that shoot magic specifically) cause him problems. Combine that with a background that changes (be it rain drops in the river or a pit of fire) and you've got one nasty battle field of lag.
Then, suddenly, Lag stuck! Once again (3rd time tonight) keyboard commands encouraged nothing but angry beeps from the PC speaker... Shiny returned to the town and found both of his precious green items gone... at least he still has his Civerb's Ward and Arctic Furs?
But all is not lost, for they survive in SCREEN SHOTS!!
The crown (44 ac) gave +15 to life and mana. It's part of a set called Milabrega's Regalia. The crown itself is called Milabrega's Diadem.
The Gothic Shield (oh will Shiny miss this treasure :( was Isenhart's Parry. It had a whopping *71* armor class, 46% blocking, and +4 dmg to attacker. It is part of a set called Isenhart's Armory.
Shiny also got a unique (non-set) War Scythe.
The Grim Reaper:
50% deadly strike (what's this do?)
Prevent Monster Heal
5% steal mana
-20 life
It seems awfully evil. Maybe if he gets his dex up (it requires around 70 dex to use) he can strike down D with it... Muhahahaha! The Black Lemming of Inle is coming for you, oh Massive Pulsating Hemorrhoid! He is come to cut you off, Spikiest of Dingleberries! You run to the East from the Lemmings of Tristram, and now, YOU DIE!
It dissapears. If you left the set items on the gound in town, they'll dissapear after a while (it's either 5 or 15 minutes, I can't remember which). Same goes for gold and everything else laying on the ground. This is why they made the stash.
-Ex, who completed Isenhart's Armory :)
"Hoes gotta eat, too!"
Even if it is in your pack (which everything that I want to keep ALWAYS is- pack, stash, or cube), if your comp runs out of memory, there's no telling what you'll lose. The game auto-saves (for lack of a better term) at certain intervals and apparently it hadn't saved between the time I found the items and the time I ran out of memory.
You completed a set already? Wow. Been scummin' bosses, eh?
...because you'll have to think pretty hard to figure out the answers Grarrrg had in mind when he typed this...
Alright, as with most of these quizes you are NOT allowed to "research" the question, all answers must be off the top of your head (NOT literally, Q: tried to do something off the top of his head and he's never been the same since...) and if you DID do research OR read other person's posted answers then you must state so before you begin answering on your own; Point values will be determined and posted with the answers in a few days, and just to spice things up, some of the questions will be trick questiong, and as an added bonus there will be ONE 'fake' question, it will be well disguised however, the only way you'll get points for that question is by pointing out that it's fake (likewise, if you wrongfully accuse a question of being fake, no points)

two (I know this is wrong but I never bothered to check for the hidden ones..)
#2 If warrior is wearing mail type armor and weilding a sword, what type of sword does his on-screen graphic appear to be holding?
a dagger?
#3 There is at least one time when having a monster be resistant to magic (any type) is BETTER then it being non-resistant and non-immune, name at least one of these times:
what do you mean by better? a greedy player wielding physical weapons would benefit from a spellcaster not getting experience for merely damaging a monster..
#4 Name all of the "rodent" variants, and as many variants as possible that were also written by the same person:
Lemming, Squirrel, Hamster..
#5 What was the SECOND variant Grarrrg ever attempted? About how far did he get?
MAR and to clvl 3?
#6 If there was an NPC in DII named after you (your 'main' B.net name) what would it's name be?
Laiyl
#7 How many variants has Grarrrg written? Can you name them?
5? nope
#8 Why did Grarrrg type up this quiz?
E. All of the above.
#9 Which unique item (gold letterS, nOt rare find) is Grarrrg' least FavoriTe?
TFoS?!
#10 (what the hell, "General Knowledge" question) Who would win in a fight, Donny Osmond or Darth Vader? (if you screw this one up your a total moron)
#1 How many cinematics are in DI? (game demo cinematics DO NOT count)
Well, there's the Lazarus Cinematic, the opening cinematic with the bird plucking out the eye-ball... there's the vile end movie (and variation of end movie for the 2 different character genders)... without counting the blizzard logo, I'd think it's around 3; 4 if you count variation of end movie.
1- Opener
2- Lazarus
3- Male end movie
4- Female end movie
#2 If warrior is wearing mail type armor and weilding a sword, what type of sword does his on-screen graphic appear to be holding?
Long sword. He has a dagger too if you equip him with a s/s setup and he wears mail.
Plate is broad sword. Nude/Light Armor is also long sword.
#3 There is at least one time when having a monster be resistant to magic (any type) is BETTER then it being non-resistant and non-immune, name at least one of these times:
What? Um, vs blinks? If you don't send them into hit recovery, they won't blink next to you. If they would resist a sort of magic, then they'd never blink next to you so long as you used that form of magic against them. This is hypothetical tho...
#4 Name all of the "rodent" variants, and as many variants as possible that were also written by the same person:
Lemming, Squirrel, Hamster, Familiar, Ermine
#5 What was the SECOND variant Grarrrg ever attempted? About how far did he get?
Barbarian, clvl 28 or so. His first variant, as everyone knows, is simply the fact that he IS Grarrrg.
#6 If there was an NPC in DII named after you (your 'main' B.net name) what would it's name be?
Lemmngi the Doctor of Death: "Can't take it any more? Come on down to Lemmngi and it'll all be over for a simple one-time fee of 50 gold!"
#7 How many variants has Grarrrg written? Can you name them?
There's the Wood Worker, the lefty... um... only 2 that I can think of.
#8 Why did Grarrrg type up this quiz?
A. Just so he could talk about himself in the third person in some vain attempt to popularize himself
B. Same as A., But because he wants people to learn how to spell his name the RIGHT way
C. He was REALLY bored and had nothing better to do
D. His first day bagging groceries fried his brain and now he only thinks in sporatic bursts of incoherencyes I'll go to the park with you
E. Lemming made Grarrrg type this quiz, he just doesn't know it yet.
#9 Which unique item (gold letterS, nOt rare find) is Grarrrg' least FavoriTe?
You forgot the possessive "s" in your name! YOU SPELLED THE POSSESSIVE FORM OF YOUR NAME WRONG! "Grarrrg's"
Least favorite unique? Grarrrg has a least favorite unique? Wild guess: Royal Circlet, because he can never seem to find it.
#10 (what the hell, "General Knowledge" question) Who would win in a fight, Donny Osmond or Darth Vader? (if you screw this one up your a total moron)
Donny Osmond's teeth would refelect light so powerfully that poor Darth would be blinded. The great Sith Lord would then fall prey to Osmond as he begins singing. Vader, blind and nearly deaf, would take off his helmet and let death take him to the East... and perhaps, salvation!
Lazurus cinematic!??!? I don't remember a Lazurus cine. What lazurus cinematic!?!?
One more thing..
Lemming, you didn't catch on to the mistake with, "your" instead of the correct, "you're." I'll let you decide where it is. BTW Donny Osmond's singing would cause Vader to suicide, not run off. The awful 'music' would be ringing in the cybernetic ears and stored forever in the memory files in vader's head.
Since I'm not going to get a PC and D2 isn't for the mac...
by Drasca
This is going to be something to do, albeit a little too easy. Just a normal character, not a variant... WAYYY TOO EASY.... one day and here comes the 3@30... not to mention the lowered hp and here natural easiness of SP and the ability to save heh.
Will never game with ANYONE. Always plays non-passworded public games. Must immediately leave game if anyone enters. For added challenge include the words: whale, dreamflange, kings, godly, demonspike, and lightforge in your game name.
#1. Three. One is the intro, another is the (single-player only) Lazarus intro, and the last one is the End-game sequence.
#2. A Long Sword.
#3. When fighting monsters with the Blink monster AI. When they are stunned, they appear right next to you, so fighting them with Firebolt or some other weak spell is easier when they are resistant, and therefore incapable of being stunned by it. There is also an instance in Hellfire, when using Lightning Wall or Fire Wall, because if they are not immune to it, they won't cross it. This can be used to separate immunities, even to filter out those that are immune to both. It can also be used similarly to Stone Curse, blocking the path of the monsters completely.
#4. Well, there's Hampster, Lemming, and Mouse, I think. You can also have a Bushido Hampster. I've never really payed attention to authors of variants, however, so I can't finish the second part.
#5. No idea.
#6. McFungus. He'd be a 'special' boss, look like a mushroom, and would spawn mini-McFungus's upon being hit. He would attack both in long-range, and short-range, with extra poison damage.
#7. Dunno.
#8. E, all of the above.
#9. Stonecleaver.
#10. Who the hell is Donny Osmond? Maybe if I knew who he was, I could answer this.
#11. Fake question. There's only ONE building in that picture, the Church!
#3 - Fire resistant enemies won't walk out of firewalls, but fully vulnerable ones will. I think.
#4 - Hamster, Squirrel, and Lemming. LemmingOfGlory has also made Friend of Farnham and Illogical variants, but I don't think that's all of them.
#5 - At a flying guess; Exorcist? Took it to 2 dots?
#6 - I don't have a maing B.Net name. Each of my characters has their own unique name I rack my brain to come up with. Would that make this the "fake" question?
#7 - I can think of 2, offhand. IIRC, Grarrrg wrote Exorcist and Sheep variants.
#8 - C. Definitely.
#9 - The Butcher's Cleaver?
#10 - Darth Vader.
#11 - Sorry, I don't remember the question and the librarian says I need to get off the comp now, so I can't check it.
Due to the lack of responses over the past three days (and the fact that I'm lazy) I did not include a point value system:
#1 How many cinematics are in DI? (game demo cinematics DO NOT count)
3 or 4, the "beginning" one that plays when you leave idle for too long without choosing an option, the Laz one, and the 2 end ones (even though they are almost identical they are still "different")
#2 If warrior is wearing mail type armor and weilding a sword, what type of sword does his on-screen graphic appear to be holding?
Long Sword
Plate Armor has the Broad sword graphic
#3 There is at least one time when having a monster be resistant to magic (any type) is BETTER then it being non-resistant and non-immune, name at least one of these times:
Illusion Weavers and Fireball, they resist fire so they'll stay around until dead, the "blink" answer is also acceptable
#4 Name all of the "rodent" variants, and as many variants as possible that were also written by the same person:
Hamster, Lemming, Squirrel, Familiar, Ermine, One, Monk, Illogical, Friend of Farnham (probably more)
It surprised me that even LEMMING!! couldn't complete this question...
#5 What was the SECOND variant Grarrrg ever attempted? About how far did he get?
BNM gave up before Clvl 10, never got any 'decent' cursed items
#6 If there was an NPC in DII named after you (your 'main' B.net name) what would it's name be?
Switch around 2-3 of the letters in your name and there you have your DII NPC, McFrugal completely botched this question...
#7 How many variants has Grarrrg written? Can you name them?
3
Specialist, WoodWorker, Slot Machine (Lefty is my character's name)
And if you remember the "sheep" variant was never finished and thus doesn't count
#8 Why did Grarrrg type up this quiz?
This was the fake question, it was fake because it was the only one with multiple choice answers
#9 Which unique item (gold letterS, nOt rare find) is Grarrrg' least FavoriTe?
That *&$@*&% piece of &*#$ TC
#10 (what the hell, "General Knowledge" question) Who would win in a fight, Donny Osmond or Darth Vader? (if you screw this one up your a total moron)
Donny Osmond, because Darth Vader isn't real :P
#11 Which two prominent buildings are shown on the DI "town" load screen?
The Tavern and the Smithy's
The Church is the "church" load screen
Believe it or not but question 10 was an actual question on a (sorta) daily show we do at my school, the "Greg and Andy talk about stuff With Chuck" show, its broken quite a few school records; first/only non-news show to last more then one season, highest rated non-news show, and too many others to list...
