My grandfather was one who hung out with the big guys at Toots Shor in NYC back in the day.. Many stories he was witness to and ended writing a novel about one in paticular. he changed the names in the story but not far from the original name and because of it it could not be published as some of the people were still alive. And if you know something about the tmies you most likely can place who they were.. I unfortunately dont know so I cant say. My grandfather passed shortly after finishing it and just never gotten to publishing it myself. It's a 350+ page story called "The Narrowback" There has since been a book named as such so the title is no longer acceptable. I dont know what to do with this stuff but I do not the novel has to be worth something.. Very interesting story.. Let me know your opinions people? jrhax@hotmail.com

Page 1> Aknowledgement:
To the many retired law enforcement officers, former bootleggers and rumrunners who so generously supplied the facts and descriptions carried within these pages. Without their help this book would have been impossible to write. I humbly assure all of them their names will never be revealed... not only to protect the innocent, but also to protect the guilty.
Page 2> The following brief biographies are listed for reference only:
William Odwyer
Own Madden
Big Bill Dwyer % Owney "the killer" Madden - Became partners in January 1923. Built and operated the most effecient of all organizations dealing in illicit liquor. Were importers, manufacturers and wholesalers. They left the retail field to others. Dwyer supplied the financial and business 'know how' while Madden handled operations and enforcement. An indication of the enormity of their operation can be made from the report of the IRS in 1925. The IRS filed suit that Dwyer owed one million two hundred thousand dollars in unpaid taxes for the year 1924. Both died of natural deaths.
Vincent Higgins
Vannie - Rumrunner working out at Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. At times worked independently for the Madden-Dwyer organization. Was considered 'above' the average rumrunner. Shot June 18th, 1932 as he left the Knights of Columbus Building, Brooklyn.

My great grandfather was William Dwyer, I would be really interested in reading your grandfather's novel. His daughter, my grandmother, is still with us and I'm sure would be interested.
Thanks,
Julie
