Well i've read some of the discussions on your message board so thought i would leave something. My great grandmother came over to America from Ireland with her family and my great grandfather. They are both pure.(This is my fahter's side) My grandmother wasn't born until after but she is also ( if your doing it by blood) 100% irish. she met my grandfather who's parents were both irish. and than there was my father. Now my mothers side. Her grandmother was 100% irish along with her grandfather. But the tables changed with my mothers parents, my mothers father is about 75% to 80% irish but we were unable to figure out what the rest was. Now i am young but it still crossed my mind do i continue and marry in or go another way? I wanted to know if it was still traditional

i dont think you necasarily need to marry anyone whos fully irish or even half irish its up to every seperate family to make the choice of whether it should be tradition or not and its your turn to make that choice for yours,id personally like someone with at least a bit of irish in them but id definatly want the kids to be brought up recognising their irish heritage

I think you should go with your heart. It is always great to follow traditions but it you have a connection with someone and you are in love, personally I would leave it up to my heart. Maybe I am a stupid Irishmen, but that's what I would do.
