I knew someone who was in Paul Vario grew of the Lucchese Family and he told me that Jimmy Burke ran Coonan and the Westies from Robert's Lounge, South Ozone Park, Queens.... Anyone believe this shit is true? I didn't believe it at first but he says it happen, he also said Jimmy Burke was like the Godfather of the Irish Gangs in NY!

Jimmy the Gent did have a lot of juice in the streets and the joint. But The West Side Boys never really ventured out to Queens all that much. So you heard a long tale. The Lounge was a loose Lucchese hangout, The West Side crew was hooked up with the Gambinos.

Jimmy was all about money. If there were a way to make money with The Westies, it would have been done.

I'm pretty sure Burke knew Coonan and co didn't he? I've read that he moved between crews in the early days. You can bet they worked together in some capacity at some stage! Also read the same about Whitey and Coonan but the shit hit the fan in Hells Kitchen when Featherstone flipped and they never got that partnership off the ground.

Yes, Jimmy the Gent did know Coonan.

The Irish lads up in the joint are a small fraternity.
