If you go to the BWMA (British Weights and Measures Association) forum pages

you will find the postings by one Tony Bennett who heads an organisation called ARM (Active Resistance to Metrication).

This group has taken it upon themselves to vandalize thousands of existing metric signs, by either painting out the metric declarations on dual signs or changing them to imperial on metric only signs. Go to the metric transport section and read the posts concerning the sign changes.

British Roads would be much more metric by now if it wasn't for this vandalization. I wonder how many posters to this forum are aware that this type of vandalism is taking place.
For previous posts regarding the BMWA website and issue of metric sign vandalism, I refer you back to August.

REPLY: Can we quote this and add it to our already impressive CV?

Psst. Don't tell Andy, though - he supports ARM's actions
