OMG! You scored, girl.

From the color, I'm assuming that the Lapponia liqueur is cloudberry. That is my absolutest most favoritest berry in the world. The liqueur is a bit sweet, but I drink it anyway. I suggest dumping it over vanilla ice cream perhaps. Or ... hmm ... when I was younger, I'd drink a concoction called 'banana whiskey' at the bars, wonder how the lakka would go with a shot of whiskey. May have to try that when I open my bottle that I'm hoarding.

Is that syrup in the next shot? It doesn't look like booze. I have a couple of jars of jam in the larder.

Dried mushrooms! Smoked little fishies! I have some boxes of salmiakki just like that! Yum! I found one of those Savu bags at Canadian Tire and it worked great! I should try to make my own when I want to do a quick smoking inside. Sherry jelly is certainly not Finnish, but sounds delicious. I've been thinking of doing some wine jellies some day. Maybe I need to entertain more ... naah The pork and duck pate has an interesting shift in the order of ingredients between languages. At least they're all food.

Thanks for sharing the loot! I like how you magnified some areas. I may have to steal that too. Meanwhile no time for picture processing at the moment. I have my priorities set to work and dealing with all the homework the naturopathic doctor gave me. I will see if I can find some time later.

Now I'm craving Finnish food, damit! I really really need to try to make Karelian pasties some day.

hahah...thanks! i, for some reason, set my heart on the Lapponia so that's why i got it on the way back from China. upon arrival at HEL i already checked everything out and 'made plans' to scoop on the way back yes the liquor is a bit sweet but it's very nice. why i just had it for the first time tonight [with vanilla ice cream hidden under a thick coating of dark chocolate ]. 3 shots in a row. straight up. still drinking it as we speak! oooohh i quite like your suggestion...no whisky in my household but as far as booze goes there's always a stash of cognac somewhere <looks around nerversely...hahaha>... speaking of booze stash i should really pick up a little pressie for myself one of these days......Absolut mandarin or vanilla DDD

-------
it is the same Lapponia the text magnifies through the liquid. btw, i saved the newspaper from the plane exactly for this purpose :P
-------

dried mushrooms: i'm going to use them in a simple pasta dish one of these days. it's the sort of food i like to save for a rainy day. literally.

little fishies: the tin is huge! 3x as big as a normal sardine tin. it's so cute i just had to pick up one me thinks i'm going to put them delicious little fishies on toasted bread and let the oil drip...then i would lick the plate dry...hahah.

savu bags: they look great. the pictured instructions seem easy enough to follow. i'm going to test chicken and fish on them. just like in the photo...haha.

i've never had wine jelly that's why i got those 2. and it goes without saying...i have a terrible weakness for foie gras and duck liver pate!!! going to Antwerpen [Belgium] again soon and am hoping to pick up a few pots to bring home. damnit, just thinking about spreading a thick layer of foie gras on a slice of crusty country bread makes my mouth water....

do you want a box of Salmiakki? i could drop it in the mail.
-------------------

i didn't think you'd notice the magnification. it's much more legible in the original versioon.
----------------

hey, take it easy. and...go make your Finnish food, asap!

Actually I just put some chicken thighs to marinade for tikka. We'll have those Monday at the earliest. Tomorrow is dinner out with his parents for Father's Day. Yesterday we went out with my mother.

Just got done working for the evening. All this work is making me a bit depressed. I would like to have a clean desk for a day or two. :/
