Perennials that produce now: raspberries, rhubarb, horseradish, wild blackberries, elderberries, salmonberries, salalberries, huckleberries, morels and various other wild things that we pick such as miner's lettuce and nettles. I also got a few plants put into an area last weekend that I segregated to be an herb patch.
Perennials that will be producing next year: asparagus, artichokes
Orchard trees that will produce in a couple of years: 2 apples, 2 pears, 3 plums, 2 cherries
Annuals that are feeding the slugs: snow peas, favas, haricots, kidney beans, tomatoes, tomatillos, garlic, leeks, onions, fennel, spinach, lettuces and other greens. The potatoes are doing well and not getting eaten by anything - yet.
I need to reseed a bunch of things this weekend since the slugs have caused such havoc. We will see if I can get a late harvest. I have about 25 corn plants that survived the squirrels (out of a whole packet!) so I've started another set in pots. It may be too late, but oh well. Also I need to plant soon for my winter garden (kale, broccoli, etc.).
I basically have a woodland garden which is
not tilled and laid out in rows. However, since I'm actually in the forest, the squirrels and the rest create problems. I'll try to get some photos if he ever gets done with the dang boat and brings the camera home.
It's a lot of work for little harvest, but it has other rewards. This is the first year of actually planting anything out so I'm still figuring out what I can grow and what I should just purchase from the market.
