in Dutch it's called 'ossenhaas'. i've looked up the English term and it's apparently tournedos. tender like butter...hmm...costs 12 euro for this piece [it's big for the both of us but i'm sure it's one person portion for you north americans ]. so glad i have a decent organic butcher. ...now i'm hoping they could order calf liver for me next week.

a steak and a [Pt] red

Mmm ... one of my favorite cuts - tenderloin, I believe. I can't see how big it is, but we're often sharing steaks. I know what you mean though, the portions here are often large.

In fact, we were supposed to share a beach-grilled sirloin tonight, but he's not home yet and it's nearly 8pm. Hopefully everything is okay since he took the motorcycle. Makes me nervous. :/

looks good!

I just had steak last night at a restaurant.

it looks smaller than it was because the plate is big
and there was a mountain of mashed potatoes and veggies.

7 ounce sirloin. medium rare, nice and red inside.

that's horseradish in the little bowl.

horseradishhorseradish! i fear it comes out of a pot

yes it does look small, but 150g is ideal. one needs no more than that amount. lots of green vegs is the way to go, although i prefer it raw. i can't stand pulpy vegs! 1 potato is ideal for me preferably oven baked as big wedges or simply boiled with skin intact.

where did you have this meal? the plate doesn't look like White Spot ;0 and btw, how much is such a meal if i may ask? i no longer have a sense of how much things cost...

What a nice looking plate for North America! Great photo too.

Must be a fairly decent restaurant as there's a generous amount of veg! Usually there's some large slab of meat with a small side of mushy stuff.
