you're like most people. people don't want to change. people only want to do what they are used to doing.

Love the grilled green asparagus! I do mine with balsamic and EVOO.

We barbecued last night - ribs and a butt. Southern food! Tricky since I have no background and had never used the smoker ... hehe. The ribs were very tasty, but very fatty so I don't think they'll be done very often around here. I wanted to go to bed so I had to finish the butt in the oven for about 45 minutes (should have been about 60), but it turned out very nice. 8 1/2 hours!

I'll need to work on learning how to use the smoker, but a fairly successful first go. I'm very happy with using our maple since it's not overpowering. Plus I'm going to get organic pork, I just didn't want to risk such expensive meat on a first attempt.

i tossed them with so-called Italian spices [dried] and EVOO. Dutchie did all the bbq'ing [overcooked asparagus ].

sounds like fun. there's always the dog [Maya?] in case you absolutely can't eat anymore of it

a good start. try smoking fish too, and Portuguese chouriço in the future. it's even better than Spanish chorizo! really. i can't find it here but i'm going to lug back a few kilos of different types later this year.

Maija got plenty of scraps.

I look forward to making bacon and sausage and perhaps even hams. I've got some beef marinating in a Syrian spice blend (Paula Wolfert) and will be grilling over wood later ... after my nap.
