Considering that my aunt has been saying that they've had record high temps (nearly 30C) over there recently the snow photos gave me quite a start until I remembered that it's been quite a while since you went.

I have to say that the food has gone down hill from when I last flew Finnair ... plastic cutlery?! Where's the glass for the water? Gee whiz ... move out of the country and it just goes to heck. Lucky for the roll and the wine anyway. Was there a wine glass? sigh

Love the shots of the countryside. Makes me want to go skiing! The airport does look the same from when I was there last, but I remember when it didn't look anything like that. Just one big hall with no shops and just a kiosk at one end. It used to be just that main building. Up in the north you still walk the tarmac to the terminals usually ... even if it's -25C. Lovely place to visit ...

Thanks for sharing those. Makes me homesick!

Oh and we went to the farmer's market today, but got there late since we had massages first and some had packed up already and others had put a shade across the fronts of their tents to block the low sun. We'll go at our normal early time next week and I'll get some shots. It's very small so it was looking pretty meager. I can probably get a shot of Rebecca and her goods on Saturday morning at our local one. Today we also supported a new local brewery and our new/old theatre (movie: Cars). Photos in the camera and I'm off to bed.

sorry forgot to mention it was march the first when i flew out. record high temps here these days as well. 35C yesterday! got home near noon and it was already sizzling. i was cooped up in the house all afternoon. afraid to face/feel the heat!

metal cutlery at 'dinner' only. i even mention it in the other Finnair food thread. lol. since 911 they chucked metal cutlery altogether. since september 2003 i've been to Peru -via Bonaire and Atlanta- Bolivia, Cambodia -via Malaysia- Vietnam, Czech Rep -via Switzerland-, and most recently China/Tibet -via HELsinki- ...none has metal cutlery until Finnair's dinner. all internal flights as well. just plastic stuff. no glass for water. the water is in a sealed plastic container/cup. you get a flimsy clear plastic cup for the wine. you're lucky it's not a paper cup! haha... [i do have some KLM and Lufthansa metal cutlery from before 911 as souvenirs...shhhh... ]

[Vantaa] no shops? it's very different now then. it's full of shops, back to back. even a Stockmann minimart, that's where i got all the edible goodies. i think it's great [(super)markets here are terrible ] they have buckets of all sizes of caviar and salmon/fish roe, and lots of smoked fish. next time i'll make some room for them for surrrrrrrre.

Thanks for sharing those. Makes me homesick!

yeah, get your massages earlier looking forward to seeing the farmers' goods.
it's good to support a new local brewery. i haven't got any on a small scale nearby so i support the bottle shops that can get the non mainstream stuff.
