Her dark stare focused to a point just a foot in front of her feet, her teeth tucking her bottom lip in while her eyebrows drew together in her concentration. She had been able successfully create and extinguish a fire circle around Kade, but Kade knew how to control these things, how to shield himself if it had been too wayward. Eve wanted to try it on herself; despite the flicker of pride in Kade's face at her accomplishment, she was not quite convince she had enough control to have gotten it that quickly.
Kade stood apart from her, crossing him arms and watching with slight curiosity. "Eve, what are you-"
"Stay still."
Inhaling deeply and letting the air escape in a slow, steady exhale, Eve kept her stare down, her concentration focused. Within several moments, a spark of a flame began to grow at her feet. It licked at the air, consuming the oxygen as it leisurely began to arc around her in a circle. The brunette refused to turn; instead, she simply envisioned the circle path she wanted the fire to take. With Kade watching from a safe distance, she waited until she saw the two ends of the flame trail connect, creating an unending ring around her.
The fire remained low, a wall easily stepped over. If someone - or something - wanted to get at her once she constructed such a circle, they would. Her head tilting slightly to the right, her eyes watched the flames as they danced, focusing on their movement. Slowly, the fiery display grew higher around her, expanding like a marshmallow in a microwave, the flames rising to lick at the night's sky well above her head.
Standing in the midst of fire.. dark hair cascading around her body.. ruffling by escaping oxygen.. flames killing all around her.. eyes aflame.. dark chuckles echoing across the fires..
It was the vision she'd had when driving away from the club earlier. She had seen herself surrounded by flames, dressed in a much more ancient way, covered head to toe in scorched armor. Blood trailing down the tarnished materials, cloth fluttering in an invisible breeze. Perhaps from a time of war. Perhaps in order to save lives.
..Or perhaps to quench a rising thirst for death, destruction, and chaos.
Maniacal laughter floated on the wind.. claws digging deep into an unsuspecting throat, the head flying apart from the crumpling body.. drawing her hand back, it coated in crimson, onyx claws extending from the tips that she licked and savored the metallic taste..
On the outside the ring of fire, Kade grew steadily uneasy. The flames had risen well above Eve, taking her from his sight, and the fire had even gotten taller than himself. He was sure she'd grasped a better control for this simple exercise than this. It was quite possible he overestimated that.
However, the moment he decided he needed to do something, the flames slowly began to dissipate, the tall walls of bright, heated colors disappearing in the same fashion as they had been born while still reaching to the sky. In the middle of the blackened circle of sand stood Eve, her dark eyes focused elsewhere while they stared straight ahead. Almost like she'd fallen into a trance of some kind.
He waited until the fire had entirely disappeared before advancing toward her. "Eve?" he called out questioningly. "Are you alright?"
At first, nothing. His hand had wrapped around her upper arm, startling her back from the images plaguing her mind now. "Fine," she said softly, shuddering against the overwhelming feeling that there were far worse visions that she would be unable to escape. "Absolutely fine." Urging a smile to lift the corners of her mouth, she found the concerned blue stare drilling into her. "Shall we continue?"
Although slightly perturbed by her odd close-out, Kade nodded in agreement. "Yeah. Besides your control of fire, you're telekinetic, able to move things with your mind."
"Sounds lazy."
He smirked. "Yeah, a bit, but it can come in handy when you're outnumbered or held down and unable to use your hands." He let go of her arm to take off his watch from his wrist. "Let's see how far you can lift this from my hand." He set the watch, face-up, in the palm of his hand, extending his hand outward of his body.
Eve looked from his face, down to the watch, and stared at it, trying to envision it rising like she had with the fire. Funny enough, conjuring fire from nothing seemed to come easier to her than simply moving things without touching them. A smirk crossed her lips, her eyebrow rising, and her hand darted out, snatching the watch from Kade's grasp and holding it above her head.
